alright, so the wrecked ship is the space pirate mother ship if you just think about it!!! So...Phantoo, who's he supposed to be? Not mecha-ridley, that guy was a robot.

That debate was raged on for a century. Fans against producers. http://digitol.proboards23.com/index.cgi?b...read=1125683151

Phantoo? Who the heck is that?
Do you mean Phantoon? If so, then that is the ghost boss you fight on Super Metroid at the wrecked ship.
And where did he come from? Well, he came from a cell in a part of the ship you never went to, by my guesses. And I don't want to register there just to see a topic about it.

The Wrecked Ship belonged to the Galactic Federation, it was shot down by Space Pirates.

no you idiot, i meant the mother ship part...

also, how do you know that it was a GF flyer shot down? Also, if it was a GF flyer, why would it fire at samus?!?

I think I've read it in the manual. And the ship was controlled by Phantoon, that's why she was attacked.

...okay, but WHAT WAS PHANTOON BEFORE HE DIED?!?!

XaviAce - March 25, 2008 12:20 PM (GMT)
Phantoon is a highly advanced form of a Koben, with the ability to absorb electrical energy as well as life-energy. Kobens are the lost souls of the life forms that died when the wrecked ship crashed. Plus, on top of that, all Koben (especially Phantoon) have an immense hatred for all living things because of their predicament, and that's why Samus was attacked when she entered the ship.

Wow.

Out of curiosity, where did you find this particular piece of information?

XaviAce - March 29, 2008 12:35 AM (GMT)
Honestly, I can't remember. I came to this conclusion mostly from common knowledge and sense. For one, look at the similarities between a koben and Phantoon. They are remarkably similar. Wouldn't you say that these things look a lot like souls? Besides, there is always an advanced form of a common-uncommon life-form in metroid games (Ex. Koben-Phantoon, Draygon larva-Draygon, Bloggling-Blogg-Alpha Blogg), so it's pretty easy to assume this. Plus I've been making a e-journal of all the metroid creatures based on morphology, habitats, and other factors to keep track of these things. It's almost 12mb long now.

Well it makes sense. You bring up some pretty good points there.

That bit about Kobens and the Phantoon, actually, is on the Metroid Galaxy Guide website, so yes, I'm actually siding with Xavi on this one.

(Good call, Xavi!)
