Title: I'm worried about this game...
Description: Spoilers? I dunno.

So from what I understand of the game, it will take place on several planets which you go back and forth from with your ship. This seems a lot like (if not exactly) the way MPH was set up...which actually disappoints me. My biggest problem with MPH was that the pace of the game was broken thanks to having to go to your ship to get from place to place, and the whole thing where you're looking at the cluster from way out there and you're all like "which one of the five themed levels should I go to?" I liked it much, much more in the other Metroid games where you actually had to find entrances to other areas rather than just going back to the same place to get to each one (basically, a hub system, which MP2 and Metroid Fusion both suffered from as well...just not as much). I'm really hoping that there is more to this than I'm picking up, but I'm sadly starting lose faith. Retro has gone from what is practically the perfect mix of exploring and powering up to "once you do this, go back here so you can go somewhere else, go back to that place again so that you can go somewhere else!"
*vanishes hoping for the best...*

Hmm... I didn't think about it. And yes... it kind of sucks and gets annoying. But maybe it will be a little different. Who knows.

maybe you will have to call your ship from specific locations on the planet, cuz, your ship can only go to planets from a specific spot on each planet

I think this may have been addressed before, but I think you might be right ...
Unless they set it up in a way where the planets act as terrains, like Prime I and Prime II terrains, and most other Metroid games. So in essence if you think about it there is a central hub in all the Prime games. Tallon Overworld, Temple Grounds, you get the point. Some environments are just more interconnected than others. Hopefully they balance it will enough for our own liking .. But I think we will be fine.
miles07 - June 21, 2007 04:36 AM (GMT)
True that. There always was a hub of sorts in every Metroid game (not just the Prime games): (Brinstar, Crateria, the Main Tunnel, Tallon Overworld, Temple Grounds, the Main Deck), so it's a sort of a classic element to the series. Hopefully, yes, they'll make the "hub" a little more interconnected, or just eliminate it completely. This is where you start out, and you have to go through a place to get to another one.
Hmm... maybe that second idea is a bit too old...
Personally, I'll take the interconnected one.

This whole flying from one planet to another can be a problem but it can also be a real cool idea. Let me give you an example: Starfox Adventures. In this game the planet you're on(Dinosaur Planet) is in a mess, part of the planet has been torn apart. This enables you to fly to the different parts floating around the planet, completing small missions on each(like defeating bosses) then return to the main part and finish a mission which will open a ''gate way'' to another flying part.
Maybe MP3 will work the same way, a main planet and some smaller planets around it.
In that case it will be just like the other prime games, except instead of going up and down elevators you'll just summon your ship and fly wherever you might want to go.
And I'm sorry if that's alot to read. I kinda got carried away ;) .
miles07 - June 22, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
You're talking about using a hub. So you're supporting that.
Hyper_Shock12 - June 22, 2007 03:53 AM (GMT)
tahts what I mean your ship can only land in certain areas (elevator rooms) and you can only go to one other planet from the locations. maybe we could control the ship while it flies. AND SHOOT ENEMIES! man i,m gonna need extra ammo for my shovel.
Gearmaster - June 22, 2007 05:57 AM (GMT)
I think that you can only go to planets in sequence, then once you've "unlocked" them all enar the game's end, thats when you can really go and get 100% items. Either that or your choice of planets is decided for you and you will go to planets as the game plot allows you to. Like the Dinosaur planet starfox game.

Like The legend of Zelda: Wind Waker? Flying around shooting Pirates on your way to the next area?
That'd be sweet. I'm in favor of that idea!
But if it isn't, then most likely Gearmaster's right about the returning to the other planets for 100%, just like in MZM.
CAPTAIN_MOCHA - July 17, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
i seriously doubt its gonna be anything like mph :samus:
Dragon - July 17, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
People who played this gfame at E3 said, "The main thing I don't like about this game is it plays a lot like MPH, only a little more complex."
miles07 - July 19, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
Hurray for complexity! Well, the controlling system should be tons better then MPH.
Dragon - July 19, 2007 03:11 AM (GMT)
It's just the fact that this game might be a MPH clone which bothers me. Have you ever played Halo? Well, one review stated, "If you didn't like "The Library" from Halo, you probably won't like the Federation Planet level, as it plays exactly the same."
I'm geussing he means you walk, kill a wave of enemies, move a bit more, kill another wave, rinse and reapeat. I hope these reviews are exagerated, or that the whole game will play more like Metroid than Halo. O still think Retro knows what they are doing, so I still hope for the best.
miles07 - July 19, 2007 04:37 AM (GMT)
I just don't trust reviewers. Period. They flame and exaggerate too much over the little things.
metroidman123 - July 31, 2007 12:59 AM (GMT)
yo i cant wait till mp3 comes out

it's the time between when it's out and when I can get my hands on it that I am worried about
unlike you guys I i'll have to wait a couple days maybe even weeks
miles07 - July 31, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
Same here. I'll never buy a game on its opening week unless it's a beyond-a-doubt good game.
Metal_Hunter - August 13, 2007 03:32 AM (GMT)
Well me too but im hoping for the best. Hopefully it can be one of the best metroid games. I'll wait and see.
miles07 - August 15, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
If not the best, then at least 2nd best (with Prime being first, of course!).
