Title: Download play?
DarkSamus - December 18, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
Does download play work on mph? I really wanna fight my sister but i don't know if it would work. (Haven't got the game yet, 1 week to go!!)
Shrander - December 18, 2006 10:40 PM (GMT)
It works. It takes a while to load in between each match, and the downloader person can only be the dreaded Samus.
But the person with the cartridge can be anyone they have unlocked.
DarkSamus - December 18, 2006 10:54 PM (GMT)
Yay, my sister only wanted to play as samus anyway.. is samus really that bad?
And i wish MPH First hunt had download play.. i'm not getting mph for a while.
Omega Metroid adv - December 19, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
sheesh, Christmas is only a few days away, that's not a long time, anyway, samus kicks @$$ like crazy if you really know how to use her.
make sure you hit LOCK PLAYER as soon as you can, and tell me if you are only gonna do it with one person, you'll get the hang of it later
don't forget to get wi-fi, that's crucial, and also, i wanna whip you.
Sylux can do some really massive damage in lockjaw, you shouldn't stay in one place while fighting Sylux(s). The shock coil is destructive, if you are in your bipedal form, and they start attacking you, the smart thing to do is morph, and run, or fight if you got good heath. Be careful in matches in space, they can propel themselves really high, and can travel like crazy, so with Sylux, just BE CAREFUL, if you are Sylux, get a death grip on the enemy with the shock coil while they're in their bipedal form. The coil has supportive lock on, and will do more damage at a higher speed, every second more, but it has a point where it just does damage like crazy and can't kill any faster, but even so, if he's reached the highest level, it may be already too late for you.
Noxus is totally devastating against a samus, vhosythe will propel you away, and you can't get close enough to bomb like a madman, and some people, will practice freezing you, and killing you with one hit with a scoped in headshot with the imperialist. Stay away from a Noxus, fire from a distant range, or from a different level of ground, or an area where you can have a reliable escapre route. Stay away from a Noxus unless you're experienced on how to deal with these guys, or you are quick and smart. The firing super cooled plasma will bounce of surfaces.
Trace, bad news, cloaking, totally unpredictable, stay morphed in you alt-form, and get close up to them, fire like crazy after that, the only thing that is faster than a triskelion, is a boosting morph ball. if you are trace, get into a VERY isolated area, ideal for sniping, your imperialist scope will automatically scope in extra if your scope gets near another enemy. So stay close up to a trace. If you SCOPE IN AND MAKE A HEADSHOT IT WILL MAKE AN AUTOMATIC 1-HIT-KO
Samus, your boosting morph ball is a totally lethal and destructive weapon, it is not smart to fight a noxus while doing this though, vhosythe will be very annoying, since you will never be able to get close, although your charge missles will deal with 'em. if you are in the skinny area of combat hall, and your opponent is also across from you, then fire missles right across, and keep hammering them. Also, stay away from sylux's lockjaw, it can cause up to 120 units of damage at one time, so unless you know how to deal with them, stay away.
Weavel, it's very risky to be him, advoid turning into halfturret if there is a sylux fighting, it will be double risky while being in halfturret, and your health will be cut in half to support both halves, if the damage is done to your turret, the damage will be done to yourself, and will hurt, when you turn back into your bipedal form, your health will be back to normal. Your battlehammer will be affected by gravity, but it has a large area to make damage, it will make a miniature explosion when it makes contact with a target, or surface, so it can damage them that way to. You will do more damage with the direct projectile fire, rather than the explosion.
Kanden, okay, annoying coward, your charge volt driver will lock on with around a 60% chance of damaging the enemy. Your stinglarvae bombs will follow the enemy around, and will home onto them, but they only do that at a close range. The volt driver will do a lot while headshoting, even with normal shots, if you have good accuracy, then the enemy will die no problem. Your charge volt driver will also send an explosion like the battlehammer, and like the battlehammer, it'll do more damage with direct contact, not the explosion hitting them.
Spire, your dialanche can go on walls, but slowly. it cannot go onto ceilings from the underside, and cannot go directly under ceilings while climbing. This is okay to escape, unless you have a sylux having a death grip on you, since you move slowly, it won't be hard to maintain a death grip. Your charge magmaul will set them on fire, and will create an explosion, and yes the same rules apply for the explosion doing damage, and the projectile doing damgae, the non-charged magmaul shots will bouce around walls, and will be useful if your opponent is near a corner where your non charged magma projectiles can bounce off and smack him, it is also useful for opponents on high areas where you can't get too, no problem, just fire some magmaul at him, this is because the magmaul is also dragged down by gravity. Dialanche will fire some rocks that move around you and is useful against samus too. Closerange attacks will do some loads of damage in Dialanche.
Defence: Samus has an average defence, while trace has a really really crappy defence, and sylux has a great defence, this can be seen by how long your energy bar is compared to everyone else too.
There is also double damage and cloaking, i'm pretty sure you all know what that means
So, i hope that all helps.
You can get some awesome advice from Omega, cause he's a pro, well, let me say that again, he's a RETIRED pro.
Ask Shrander for advice in adventure mode, he's really good at it after all, i've pulled of the 1% challenge from metroid fusion and the 15% challenge from metroid zero mission, but i don't know if i'll be able to pull of the 15% challenge for Metroid prime hunters
speaking of that, i better PM shrander for advice....
Shrander - December 19, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
Learn boss patterns. Take your time.
On the last couple bosses, refill your health whenever you can.
And against the last couple battles with the ball things, just try to hit the boss once or twice then go into alt form and get ready to boost away from their ram attack.
Use the imperialist in fights against the gaurdians when you can, or try to use the volt driver, it seems to work well.
One thing I didn't do, but could help is not activating the first set of teleporters for a while, then during your second escape secquence at each level, activate the teleporter from the first run and you can go through it to your ship. It was a glitch I found :)
Omega Metroid adv - December 19, 2006 07:29 PM (GMT)
really? Kool glitch! That's going to be useful!
Shrander - December 19, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
Omega, he was a 5 star, but from when I played him, he just used noob tactics, that isn't skills. Setting up matches at Ice Hive just so you can get death alt is NOT skill.
I know I am not the best, but I am getting a lot better with the magmaul.
It is starting to get lethal to more people.
Omega Metroid adv - December 19, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
I'm sure omega was just having fun taking it, i can't find deathalt in that ice hive ANYWHERE!
Also, do you preferre charge magmaul, or non-charged, also, where do you preffere to use them. And my Hunter card says you play with weavel as HOC, but that doesn't really prove anything.
Shrander - December 19, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
I use Spire most. I usually charge to set people on fire.
I use it at pretty much any distance at any level.
The Weavel thing is due to glitch hunting and showing the glitches to friends wanting to see them instead of reading them.
Maybe in about 3-4 we can have a match, I am at school right now in my Visual Basic class.
DarkSamus - December 19, 2006 10:03 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the tips guys. They'll help. So far, the best character seems to be spire. I like em slow and powerful. Is his weapon long ranged?

Thats nice. I won't fight until i'm as good as i am on ssbm. You won't have a chance. ^_^
BTW, can someone explain what wifi actually is, what you have to do to be able to use it, how much it costs and where to get it from? (Preferably in Australia)
Shrander - December 19, 2006 10:49 PM (GMT)
The magmaul can go long distances in a lot of cases, but good accuracy at long distances takes skill, and I am trying to get better at it.
The charged shots when you have double damage can be instant kill or 2 shots to kill.
Good thing there is no shadow burning ;)
Omega Metroid adv - December 20, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
Can the Magmaul make headshots? I doubt it....
If you've completely mastered any hunter, you are virtually unstoppable, unless 3 deathalt people get it at once and they all tag onto you, of course it takes a really long time to master someone, any hunter can be mastered to incredible measures, but anyway, the chances of totally mastering anyone is slim, unless you've played since it came out.
Shrander - December 20, 2006 10:24 PM (GMT)
You can do headshots with noncharged shots, but they aren't needed by most.
Not many people care but headshots unless they use the imperialist, and most imperialist users suck at most other weapons, so they run whenever someone gets close.
That's one way I am better than a lot of people. I am good at a certain weapon, but I still can use most of the other weapons semi-well.
Omega Metroid adv - December 21, 2006 01:46 AM (GMT)
oooh, is that avvy and sig temporary for Christmas, or is it permanent?
and also, i wonder if the battle hammer does headshots
unfortunately i don't know what affinity weapons is...and what weapons abuse is and shadow freezing?!?
I can't do the wall hacks like people i've fought, it's been confusing to me, even my friend's done it accidentally while doing single card play he said that he "fell of a cliff" Unfortunately, we were playing in the bathroom stalls because it's against school rules to have electronics, and i didn't see it happen :(
and i would really like to have ALL of the deathalt locations.
what's this i hear about getting over the lavafall on the alinos gateway? I know that you can get on the ceiling wall slightly slanting in from the top from that jumpad you use between the battlehammer and the magmaul.
Shrander - December 21, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
Glitches to go through walls, go over the lavafall, shadow freeze, and many more, click the following link. I need to get back to working on that guide, maybe later.
http://z3.invisionfree.com/Metroid_Headqua...?showtopic=1131--------------------------------------------
Weapons considered to be abuse:
Alt forms on Samus, Trace, Sylux, and Weavel
Samus and her missiles.
All characters and the imperialist if they use it too much.
Sylux and the Shock coil.
Noxus when he shadow freezes.
All characters and death alt.
--------------------------------------------
Deathalt locations, find them yourself. Death alt is cheap. Try to find ways to counter it rather than use it.
--------------------------------------------

DarkSamus - December 21, 2006 05:32 AM (GMT)
Can you only play as Samus in 1p?
Shrander - December 21, 2006 05:56 AM (GMT)
You can only play as Samus in singleplayer. Kind of sucks, but oh well.
Omega Metroid adv - December 21, 2006 07:28 PM (GMT)
For Trace, Noxus, Spire and Sylux, they have the same abilities on default weapons, and they all do the same thing....so...........
how about countering the deathalt by getting it first so it prevents anyone else from getting it.
And it's Affinity, not infinity

No. Trace turns invisible for his default, the others don't.
Noxus freezes.
Spire sets people on fire.
Sylux gets his healthback when attacking with the SC.
Nowhere even close to being the same.
The best way to counter death alt is to stay away from the people, or in a good case, have them commit suicide on the game, which isn't hard on too many levels.

..er...wha? I always use Default weapons and that happens, so lemme get this straight, does this happen on Default weapons or Affinity? I've tried both, i haven't noticed those things, and Spire sets things on fire on Default, Trace turns trans when he stand still armed with 'da Imp. Actually, everything, so, uh, sorry for the hassle, so does affinity NOT have these things or do they, if they do, they're both the exact same thing.
Shrander - December 22, 2006 02:35 AM (GMT)
Affinity weapons do that.
The Power beam is the same strait shot for all characters no matter what.
Omega Metroid adv - December 23, 2006 03:22 AM (GMT)
....nooo, default does that too....
DarkSamus - December 25, 2006 09:02 AM (GMT)
I got it. Its awesome, i'll let you know when i get wifi.
BTW, i need to unlock the other hunters, but i don't like 1p. If i fight against you, can you play as a unlockable character?
BTW again, I own as Kanden. ^_^
Omega Metroid adv - December 25, 2006 09:56 PM (GMT)
You may own as Kanden, but don't worry, i'll shove some charge missles down your gullet, and after all, you've just started. Practice with the Imperialist, and shock coil, it's useful for newbies who won't give up. The deathalt is quite useful if you're feeling cheap.
and get wi-fi soon! And make sure to pick up tricks from the people around the world! ^_^
DarkSamus - December 25, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
What is the weapon that turns samus's gun blue? The one that shoots electricity?
And how many unlockable stages are there in multi?
And how the hell do you beat the tree/totem pole in celestial archives?!

1).The shock coil
2).27-Including ovblivation
2). I think you shoot at the blue thing till the beam or eye comes up at the top then shoot it with rockets and/or annfinty weapons. I'm not that sure though
Omega Metroid adv - December 26, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
Oh, at the celestial archives, just fire all of the blue spots on him, then the core will be released out the top and will hover over the pole, constantely fire shots at it while circling it, he will have 3 stages, with red spots constantely going down after each stage. He's only Version. 1, so get ready for version 2, 3, and 4.
Oh, and Shrander, i'm doing the 15% run and i've already got four octoliths! yay!
DarkSamus - December 27, 2006 11:23 PM (GMT)
Ah screw it. I'll get the hunters another way. I'll save 1p for the holiday to Burril. (Spell right..?)
I'm getting an AR on friday (I hope) so i'll get all the hunters that way. ^_^
But not the stages.
BTW, i love how they did that, Kandens battle is the same as the Samus battle from MPH First hunts practice mode.
And the level Statis Bunker is the Morph ball testing level too.
Omega Metroid adv - December 28, 2006 12:21 AM (GMT)
hmm...they're just slightly different
DON'T USE YOUR AR, IT'LL PROVE YOU CAN'T DO THINGS ON YOUR OWN, IF ME, A 12(it's my birthday) YEAR OLD CAN DO IT, WELL I BET U CAN TOO....otherwise i'm just taaaaalented. Credephid V.1 is real hard for begginers, but honestly, i could probably take him down without taking hits if i really wanted too. I highly suggest that you finish your game first before taking on players all over the world, it'll make it easier with the layouts of the arenas and nice solitary sniping points. Trust me, beat the game first and it'll make it better, but if you don't want to that's your choice, people all over the world who add you and be your rival will see that you haven't completed the game. On the right side of your hunter card, you will see a swirly blue alimbic sign when you complete the game, when you do 100%(not too many people bother to do this, but i did it anyway, and it wasn't hard, didn't need a guide, just needed common sense and a good memory of some of the temporary scans of the game), you will get a shiny sparkling octolith sign on your hunter card.
SO GADDAMMIT DON'T USE YOUR AR!
!!! :o AND I THINK MGG OMEGA IS COMING BACK OUT OF RETIREMENT!!! :o

1. Yep.
2. 26, number 27 on the list is just to select a random stage out of the 26. Oubliette is the name, not ovblivation.
3. When the spots turn blue, shoot them until they dull out, and do that to all the spots, then a crystal eill come up, out of the top, shoot it and repeat.
