I think it was AWESOME in some areas, like when you first enter the area, but in the caverns, they all sucked bad, and just had squeaks and silence...The ending music was REALLY great! Also, the only other engagin music is when you were fighting metroids, when you entered the queens lair, when you enter the queen's lair with the metroids there, and...when you're fighting the queen.

True in some ways, but it does get slightly dull in the caverns and nearly musicless areas. Metroid is always a good area when it comes to music though. I LOVE the background effect with Thardus in metroid prime, it was just mysterious to match the enviroment, but it also had the other major music parts where it reminded you that you were fighting something massive and powerful with low visibility and stuff.

I like to think that the bad music parts are parts where they took out the good music to increase dramatic tension.

That could be true, but it should've been "darker" then, like the last cavern music or sum'n.

The Main Tunnel theme was the best BGM in the whole game, but like all video games back then, it had really bad quality. The Chozo Ruins theme was a little out of place, and the Caverns themes were all bad. All it was was ambiance, each a little different then the rest.

I didn't care for the music in any way possible. The main tunnel
theme was ok, but the Chozo Ruins and Cavern themes sucked
really bad. Just random squeeks and sound effects, which got old after awhile.

It has its good parts, but there where some parts that were just horrible. This is what they where thinking, "I don't feel like doing this one, lets just throw in a few beeps evey once and a while and call it good." I do love the game though, it was the first one I played, I I think the "hunt and seek" gameplay is awsome.
