Title: How many of you have played the original?

Phazon Infused - September 8, 2004 04:15 AM (GMT)
I'm wondering how many people here have had the chance of playing the original on NES, becuase there are hardly any threads here!

The original was the first nintedo game that I ever played. My uncle had it and it was pretty much only game he had besides Zelda, Battletoads, and Mario. He played it a lot!!!

Have any of you still got an NES system? Mine is still in top notch shape, but I wish that I could find the remake of it that plays all the cartridges pretty much flawlessly! :nes:

Ballistic Phazonator - September 8, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
my NES hasn't been played since i was about 6. its in my loft, as well as my SNES and ATARI stuff. i remember it playing pretty well. the first video game i ever played wasn't my metroid though, it was super mario.

MetaSamus - September 9, 2004 01:02 AM (GMT)
No. I never did. I never even started to like metroid until about a year ago.

Phazon Infused - September 9, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)

Phazon Hunter - September 9, 2004 09:46 PM (GMT)

Prime came out in 2001. I didn't start liking metroid until 2003.

Phazon Infused - September 10, 2004 04:22 AM (GMT)

Phazon Infused - October 9, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
The only difference is that the pixels have been smoothed and you can save the password instead of writing it down. Maybe some of the glitches have been taken care of, but I doubt it.

MetaSamus - October 10, 2004 03:33 AM (GMT)
I liked those glicthes.

Metriod_Dragon - October 10, 2004 04:04 AM (GMT)
fill me in on the cool glitches.

MetaSamus - October 10, 2004 04:19 AM (GMT)
Um......duh?

Metriod_Dragon - October 10, 2004 04:24 AM (GMT)
 ?????

Phazon Infused - October 10, 2004 05:31 AM (GMT)
You can do the door jump for example. It is hard to do, but it is cool. If you go into a door at a certain point and you can get samus "stuck" there, you can jump and roll into the ball and just climb up. You would go into weird rooms that were a glich and they are called Secret Rooms.

And the creatures can go through the door with you and hurt, but maybe that was intentional. Some of the rocks would be miscolored along with some of the creatures.

If you shoot out a platform that one of the zoomers or other things that cling to the platforms, the creature will float there and shaking.

It's great

Ballistic Phazonator - October 12, 2004 02:58 PM (GMT)

Phazon Infused - October 12, 2004 04:37 PM (GMT)

MetaSamus - October 14, 2004 01:44 AM (GMT)

Lucky - December 21, 2004 05:45 AM (GMT)
My best friend has the NES game, I've watched her play it a few times and I've played it too. Nothin' beats the classics.

MetaSamus - December 22, 2004 12:15 AM (GMT)
The best NES game I had was Super Mario Bros. 3 I didnt know Metroid existed until I got Super Smash Bros. for N64.

Anubis - December 22, 2004 01:41 AM (GMT)
I havent played the original on the NES but I have used ROMS and the special mode on the Zero.

MetaSamus - December 22, 2004 07:59 PM (GMT)
I only had a few NES ROMs.

Metroid Emperor - December 22, 2004 10:33 PM (GMT)
I have played the game on GBA and Computer.

Gendreavus - December 31, 2004 06:46 PM (GMT)
I played it on ZM, MP, and a rom. The rom was the most fun though because I could use Metedit on it. Metedit is awesome!
*vanishes to use Metedit*

Da Master - May 9, 2005 01:33 AM (GMT)
The original metroid sucked.............. you start in the middle of a cave with no explanation and theres no story point, its like a huge maze.............

Anubis - May 9, 2005 08:21 PM (GMT)
It was a challenge. They never thought you would need a map for it.

ridley4 - May 18, 2005 08:27 PM (GMT)
I first started my metroid gaming with MP.I was unknowing of other troids other than MF then I years later i got MZM it ruled then i got its original troid version. Then I got MP2 it ruled and by then i played every metroid game on rom cept the GCN ones.and my favorite was super metroid,it didnt need text to tell a story it told it through the gamplay, which is amazing.MP put me through a moral dilemma when I was reading so,me of the space pirate logs, and several times i viewed samus as the bad one but prime was always i thought it was evil put i may just be protecting its spawn or its territory,go figure.

WTF is Metedit?

Gendreavus - June 3, 2005 11:59 PM (GMT)
It's a really awesome Metroid level editor. It hacks the rom and lets you move around and even change all of the tiles and enemies in the game. I would tell you where to download it, but the same site has some roms, and pointing to it publicly would be against the forum rules, so if you want it you'll need to PM me.
