Title: we need a game like this!
Description: possible spoiler
fungo - March 8, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
In both metroid prime games that have so far been published, the game starts with a planet that has been hit by a phazon infected meteor. in metroid prime 1, the meteor had a creature on it called metroid prime, a highly evolved metroid, capable of creating phazon. there wasn't one in metroid 2, but i'll bet it was killed in the crash or by the ing.
so far in the series, it has appeared that the metroids originate on sr-388. however, for all we know, maybe sr-388 was hit by a metroid carrying meteorite long ago. maybe the metroid prime on this meteorite was killed by the crash, and only the lesser metroids survived.
what do you think? is it a good storyline idea? does it suck horribly? gimme your opinion so I can decide to whether to make it or not.
story line ideas-
the federation disintegrated some time ago. now, each planet is self ruled. technology has been set back, not by much, but it has been set back. right back to what it was during the metroid games. you're character is a young adult who thinks that bounty hunting might be an interesting job. so they buy suit and ship and go contracthunting.

Metroids did not come from Zebes, Zebes is not SR-388, they
are completly different planets. I don't know for sure but I
don't think Zebes or SR-388 were hit by Phazon Asteroids.
Even if it did happen, you say "Metroid Prime could have been killed
by the Ing" when in all reality the Ing only existed on Aether, so they
can't exist on any of the other planets.
Your idea is filled with plot holes, you should fix it up a bit.

thanks for telling me that the planets are different, i guess i got confused.

no you're confused. i said the the meteor that smashed into aether might have had it's metroid prime killed by the ing. if there was a metroid meteor that hit sr-388, its prime was killed by the crash, not the ing.

Thing is, I remember in Metroid Fusion that the Chozo created the Metroids to control the X-parasite population on SR-388...

There's only ONE Metroid Prime: the one that you find on Tallon IV. It then takes Samus' Phazon Suit (in the final battle) and uses it to "clothe" itself.
It then goes to Aether, where another Phazon meteorite had hit the planet, splitting it in two. It goes there to "eat" the Phazon, but then it faces Samus again, hence its hissing and growling when they first meet.
After defeating it at the end (via the 100% ending), you can see it materializing in space, leading it into the Corruption plot. As of yet, there's only one Metroid Prime.

Yeah, but here is something that got me confused.
If that is so, then half the plot of Metroid 2 is wrong. It makes it out as the Metroids on Sr-388 that Samus went around killing off were all the offspring the one metroid that she rescued in Metroid/MZM. Yet they say the Chozo put Metroids there before for the X. If so, did all the metroids there just dissapear then when the one metroid got there it started multiplying?
Or am I just getting planets and stuff mixed up, and confusing myself?
I need to play the games through again...
MetroidMaster1914 - August 6, 2007 07:05 PM (GMT)
First off, I never played M2 in it's entirety, so I'm not alll the familiar with it's plot. But what Metroid did Samus rescue in the forst one???
Shrander - August 6, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
I think I got it mixed up. A baby metroid in M1. THen in M2 it multiplied, so you killed off pretty much the metroids at Sr-388, and I am not sure if it is killed also, probably. THen in Super Metroid there is a (possibly the same one, not sure) metroid in a canister, Ridley takes it down to a planet (forgot it's name) and later on after killing Ridley, you find a broken canister. Then when you go to kill Mother Brain, it shows up huge, and helps by restoring energy and giving hyper beam. And in Fusion after getting cured from DNA of a different metroid, Samus says it saved her life twice now.

The way I know things: Many years ago, the Chozo created the Metroids to control the X population. Sometime before M1, the SpacePirate took some to Zebes (and Tallon IV and Aether and wherever else). In M1, Samus destroyed all the Metroids on Zebes. In M2, she killed all the Metroids except the baby one at the end of the game. She then took it to that research station, where it was stolen by Ridley. Then in SM, it gave it's life to ave Samus. Am I wrong?
Dragon - August 6, 2007 08:38 PM (GMT)
MM1914 is right, Shrander must have got Metroid 2 and Metroid ZM confused.

*BIG-TIME SPOILERS*
Yes, the Chozo created the Metroids to destroy the dangerous X Parasites. However, before Metroid/MZM begins, a science vessel discovers one of these on SR388 and takes it for study. Space Pirates attack and steal the Metroid, then they take it to their Headquarters on Zebes and study it, trying to clone it for its energy-producing and storage properties. the Federation found out, and sent Samus to destroy the Pirate facilities, Metroids included.
In MZM, the explosion of the Space Pirate Mother Ship is seen by Pirate Ships in orbit (namely, the Orpheon, Siriacus, and Vol Paragon ships [from the Metroid Prime Pirate Data logbook entry Fall of Zebes]), and the Orpheon escapes with Metroids (as far as we know). They took the Metroids to Tallon IV, where they are slowly but surely transferred to the Phazon Mines and the Phendrana Fortress Space Pirate outposts. While here, the Space Pirates uncover the Phazon, as well as the Metroid Prime. Enter Samus.
Fast forward several missions, and Samus is finally ordered to eradicate the Metroids on their homeworld of SR388. She successfully destroys every Metroid, including the Queen Metroid, but then witnesses the birth/hatching of a new baby larval Metroid. This baby, viewing Samus as a motherly-type of figure (:samus: OH YEAH!), follows her around. Eventually, though, Samus encapsulates it and gives it to the Federation for study. Enter Ridley, and exit as well. Samus gets to the Ceres Space Station just in time to find Ridley clutching the Metroid capsule in its talons and flying away. Samus pursues Ridley to Zebes, then...
Well, you know the rest.

Wow...you should make a timeline topic. But yeah, that's what I thought just wothout the elaborate details from the log entries.
miles07 - August 7, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
Hmm... what a good idea... But where exactly would it go? I know! The General Metroid Board!
*leaves to go type up the post*

That wasn't harsh, he was just saying the truth. He had multiple plot holes and his ideas needed fixing. Besides, its better to actually SAY whats wrong with it, instead of having him try and figure it out on his own. It's called constructive criticism. Not to mention, this was 9 freakin months ago! There has to be a statute of limitations on these kinds of things.... I'm not trying to be mean, but I just wanted to point this out
Oh and yes, I do like quoting even when the person who posted was directly above me...

Bandwidth, Samus Oran. Don't forget bandwidth.
And how is that harsh, Mr. P?
