Title: Plasma Beam Early
Description: i did it!

sheegothhunter - June 5, 2007 10:23 PM (GMT)
alright the other day i was playing Metroid Prime and i just got spider ball, so i was on my way to get ice beam. i passed through the room in magmoor caverns called 'geothermal core' and i discovered a way to get plasma beam as soon as you get ice beam. if you jump on a few rocks and stuff you can get up the platforms, and you can get plasma beam as soon as you have ice beam. i wont describe the process because there is a video on metroid2002 of a similar trick.

http://www.metroid2002.com/without_grapple...hermal_core.php

thats a video and strategy for getting plasma beam while skipping grapple beam and spider ball. i happened to have spider ball but still i did the cool jumping that is seen early in this video.

just thought you would like to see that its easy to get plasma beam early, whether you want to skip grapple beam and spider ball or not.

the coolest thing to me was that this allowed me to get power bombs early (by collecting an expansion in phendrana drifts) and from there i could get X-Ray Visor early and so on. try it out!

Pshaw for your skipping
I skipped...
1. Phendrana pirate labs
2. Space pirate frigate
3. Thardus
4. The whole moines and have all the beams and am at Omega pirate.

I also skipped Flaagra.

gammametroid - June 6, 2007 07:50 AM (GMT)
i love to play all bosses its fun so i doont skipp em but items and such i think i can screw some of em to get plasma beam u only need ice beam, spider ball, space jump and boost ball ^^

sheegothhunter - June 6, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
not that i dont beleive you gearmaster >_> but you cant get through magmoor caverns without varia suit, and you cant get to omega pirate without going through the mines. when you said "4. The whole moines " i assumed you meant you skipped the whole mines, which as i said before, is impossible. not only do you need to go through them to get to the omega pirate, you need to collect the chozo artifacts in there.

i know what you mean gammametroid, i love bosses too but i like to mess around with the order of items.

Gendreavus - June 7, 2007 04:40 AM (GMT)
You can skip the varia suit. You just need a good number of energy tanks and lots of mad dashing skills, plus some luck. I've almost done it before, but not quite.

*vanishes*

sheegothhunter - June 7, 2007 05:29 PM (GMT)
really? well that would be quite a trick. but the fact is you cannot skip flaagra. you cannot get the artifact of wild until you have beaten flaagra. sooo, i dont know what you are talking about gearmaster. i suppose you could skip it, then come back at the ene when you are trying to get all the artifacts. but that seems painfully pointless, because why go through the trouble of not having variasuit when you are not going to get any less % out of it?

it is interesting to me that there are so many possible sequence breaks in Prime. i thought there wouldnt be so many, but appearantly not. :] if your ever board, i suggest going to metroid2002 and watching some of the videos of people doing crazy things in metroid prime and prime 2.

Gearmaster - June 8, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)
Actualy in the very first versions of the game if you skip Flaagra and come back later to get the artifact Flaagra will eb gone and you can proceed as normal, you can get the Varia suit then if you do so choose.

Also yes you CAN skip the whole bloody mines. By getting the plasma beam early you can go to Phendrana drifts to melt the ice and get an early power bomb. You then go to Magmoor workstation adn through the door on the far side you can Power bomb your way to a elevator into the mines. Then by going to the rear enterance to the Omega pirate room you can position yourself on an invisible ledge on the wall to activate the scan point to open the door and go fight the omega pirate, while getting an energy tank.

sheegothhunter - June 8, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
well isnt that convenient.
and about your story with the mines:
1) getting through the back way to the omega pirate does not work, when i tried it there was a locked door at the end of a phazon filled hallway.
2) if this was even possible you would still be going into the mines to fight omega pirate, therefore you are NOT skipping the "the whole bloody mines"
3) you still need to go further into the mines to get the artifact of warrior and the artifact of newborn
4) why am i being suck a prick? because i dont beleive a word you say! :)

Gearmaster - June 8, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
Well yeah you have a later version of the game henceforth you will always have a different outcome then the origional control. And since this is an internet forum I can never prove it to you, ergo, we can either argue over versions of games in the timestream or just drop it and say that different versions of the games differ. I.E. you can't sequence break the plasma beam in the players choice verion.

And yes I am aware of having to go get the artifact of new born and warrior.

Also if you enter in the way I specified and go into the first room with the first elite pirate he wont awaken, you can go right up to it and nothign happens, you can scan thigns and the like then once you cross the "tripwire" point on the floor like normal it proceeds as normal.

sheegothhunter - June 8, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
i dont care about the version differences, i know theres no way to prove it. but dont say you are skipping the entire mines because you really arent.

interesting about the omega pirate though, your saying if you enter through the back he doesnt wake up until you go trip the cutseen?

Gearmaster - June 10, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
Yep the elite pirate does not wake up till you trip the scene try it sometime.

And when I say I skip the mines, I mean that I skip the majority of it.

miles07 - June 21, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
<_< That's not the same, ya know...

Hyper_Shock12 - June 22, 2007 12:15 AM (GMT)
:samus: :samus: :ph43r: :metroid: :samus: I myself was never to good at sequence breaking, so rock on dude.

Gearmaster - June 22, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
Your aparently very good at spam posting though, and using smile's in an excessive and irrelevant manner.

miles07 - June 22, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
But then again, sequence breaking is best for getting you more stuff earlier than you should. Once you're stronger, you can go back to the places that you've "skipped" and defeat/pass that area/boss easier and faster.

Strike-Freedom - June 27, 2007 12:34 AM (GMT)
dude! Just screw everything in sight!!!

*ratatatatatatatatata*

Gearmaster - June 27, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
I'd rather shoot it then have sex with everything.

miles07 - June 28, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
*rimshot* Ha ha. Funny, Gearmaster. Not
He meant Screw Attacking (commonly referred to as "cutting").

gilsthelizard - July 13, 2007 11:12 AM (GMT)

miles07 - July 14, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
Just go to metroid2002.com. They have TONS of glitches, secret worlds, and sequence breakers there.
