Title: Ecliption Poll ..
Description: .. Vote on storyline placement!
Axion - June 21, 2007 09:06 PM (GMT)
Okay, so here is the deal. I am having to make a really hard decision involving the story line. I am getting mixed opinions on how I should have this game unfold, and where on the Metroid timeline it should take place. I am leaving it up to you guys, MHQ, to make the decision. You all have been the ground in which this game has grown its roots, and you all have backed me up 100% through all of this, I figured it should be up to all of you.
Where on the timeline should this game take place? Should it include Phazon? Should it be post Fusion? Pre Samus? Let me know, vote in the poll. Thanks a whole bunch.
I will leave this up for a week so I can make more progress on the engine itself.
Oh, and Mods and Admins, you can delete this when the poll closes.

I say before Metroid I, it seems there are too many games with phazon in it or fusion continuations.
GlassPirate - June 21, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
I'd say Anubis is right, but I would like phazon to be in it. Just becuase I think phazon in 2-D would be cool and becuase the scariest Metroid games, if you ask me, always have been the Primes, which have phazon in them, which causes creepy mutants in Ecliption. (Please?) And I know Axion is doing his best to make this game a horror fest. ;)
P.S. Make sure that there's alot of gruesomely and uniquely killed (or maybe not maybe just savagely killed) bodies that have plenty of blood and organs near their respectful owners. :P

If it doesn't involve Samus, then I'm all for Pre-Metroid I. Iagree with anubis to the letter on this one.

I must agree with Master1914 (regarding if it should involve Samus or not) but I also agree with GlassPirate on the Phazon. I know this is kinda contradictory but Samus isn't the only character in the Metroid universe, and Phazon should play a role, even if it's only a backstage role.

Before Metroid 1! We do get a lot of games that are dealing with Phazon or continuations of fusion (like mine, sort of), and it would be cool to see something different. Metroid 1 was supose to be Samus' frst mission, but before that imagine the federation being the only threat against the pirates.. Yayz.

Hey guys, thanks for the amazingly swift answers. I will leave the poll open for other members but it seems that the idea of a game taking place before Metroid I is taking the cake.
And with all of your points, I totally agree. It also gives me a more free range to expand upon, not to mention there is hardly any material on the status of of the Metroid universe before Metroid I .. this will open up some new territory to explore.
And to GP and Miles ... Guys, I know what you are saying. Trust me. I eat Phazon for breakfast. Who knows? Maybe with the light that Metroid Prime III sheds on the origins of Phazon, we can explore some new angles? And even if the game doesn't have Phazon, I am sure I can come up with some kind of creepy biomutagenic element to play the role of destruction. Or, if that is to cliche, I am sure something more original will present itself.

First, not a prob. It's the first topic on the list, so it's kinda easy to just click and read it.
Second, yes, a story before the story would be great, just as a sortuva spin-off (but not really).
Third, I might have some ideas for a biomutagenic material for you, in case you want any more ideas... Even though some of them might have been clichéd already... PM me if you want them, Axion.
