Title: Changes to the forum...

MetroidMaster1914 - July 30, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
You may have noticed some subtle changes that we've made to forum. Mostly, we've simplified it, removing some rarely used links, moving some of them (like the the members and active topics links to the user links bar). We've also replaced the sub menu under the banner with the one on the site. There is, however, one more change that I would like to make to the forums, a pretty big one. So I've decided to get your opinion on the matter to help me decide if I should do it. It wouldn't rid rid of any features, just change the way he forum looks. It would make it blend with the website more. Basically, we'd just be adding the sidebar to the forum, as shown in this mockup. We would also be adding the user links bar to the site, as well as adding some kind of quick login on the side bar. Please vote on the matter and reply to let your voice be heard.

I don't want the forum to be squished up. The only way I'd sign on would be if the navigation would be similar to this:
http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/ , on the right where it says language, click. The options spring down. I'd like that for the navigation but it springs out sideways.

@ MM1914: (hesitantly) So... you want to merge both the site AND the board? Well, I like the way it is now, but I wouldn't want to go all the way to the site to download a new fangame update when I could get there easier. I'm kinda split on this, SRY.

MetroidMaster1914 - July 31, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
That's exactly what I'm trying to do, make MHQ seem like one place rather than two seperate places. Anubis, would you mind if we did something similear, like choosing on your User CP whether you want the side bar to show up or not?

Anubis - July 31, 2007 04:33 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't mind that.
Go for it.

Emperor - July 31, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
Er..I would rather it stays the way it is now, as I honestly can't see the two working well together merged.

Anubis - July 31, 2007 05:10 PM (GMT)
I do have to agree with MM1914, I think its almost crucial for the site and forum to become one.

Dragon - July 31, 2007 05:56 PM (GMT)
If we do this, the site will have to be fixed up, because right nowit's chopped full of borken links and such.

MetroidMaster1914 - July 31, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
hmmm, I suppose that would be a good idea to fix all the broken links on the site before a complete merge. I know that most of the downloads are broken, and that the arichives and RSS Feed don't automatically update. Anything else I'm missing?

miles07 - August 1, 2007 06:15 PM (GMT)
Well, the fangames pages won't load. The page DOES exist, but it's blank.

BTW, I do agree with you now, MM1914.

MetroidMaster1914 - August 1, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm changing something on the site, so some pages won't show up. Sould be fixed soon.

miles07 - August 2, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Hmm... I noticed a change in your sig, MM1914. THNX! ^_^

MetroidMaster1914 - August 2, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
No miles07, thank you![/chucknorris]

miles07 - August 2, 2007 02:59 AM (GMT)
Meh, not a prob. I'm here to help and to please.

I have an idea, how about you put like...an arrow thing, so you can put it on when you want, and "minimize" it when you feel like it.

MetroidMaster1914 - August 6, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
That's what Anubis suggested. IT's being looked into.

Nice to know the Admins are actually WORKING on this site. There're plenty of other sites that don't have such devoted Admins...

Hey, thanks for making me look useful MM!

Anyway, I'd be for the sidebar, as already stated, if it didn't scrunch up the rest of the forum. If there was a way to add it to the left of the forum rather than in the left-hand portion of the current forum, that would work best for me.

*vanishes*

Actually, I'm gonna have to agree with Gendreavus here. It would just look better that way.
