Title: Metroid Project: Dread?
Description: A secret message in a Pirate log?
AhAhA - August 31, 2007 05:26 AM (GMT)
I'm sure some of you have seen that screenshot where it said something about a Metroid Project: Dread nearing final stages of completion. Is this a hidden message from Nintendo that Dread is coming soon?
Screenie:

I've no idea how to shrink this image, so yeah, if an admin can shrink this down, that would be great.

That's what I believe, having scanned the report in question. I believe it because I want more Metroid... Hehe.

Scanned it myself too, and without any guides, hurray for me. IT can be completly coincidential that it mentions "Dread" for the name. I still hope it's hinting toward Metroid: Dread though.

Quote from Nintendo:
"We are not currently working on a 'Metroid: Dread' at this time."
It went something like that, but note the word "currently". We may hear something in a year or so about this game. I wouldn't lose hope just yet.
MarieClaire - September 13, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
Waiting a year. Fun fun... Hopefully it will be worth it.

When was this quote? If it was way back when the rumors popped up at first the game's status may have changed.

Copied and Pasted from Metroid: Recon.

| In other slightly off-putting news, CVG received this disapointing note from Nintendo regarding the rumoured Metroid Dread: "Nintendo is not making the 2D Metroid at this point in time." |
So it may be a while until we hear any official news about this project.
Gendreavus - September 13, 2007 11:50 PM (GMT)
Yes, but when? If that was two years ago then the status may have changed since then. If that was recently then we have reason to be sad about it not happening soon.

Why can't we just say its dead and that it'll never b released and get back to speculating about other games?
MetroidMaster1914 - September 15, 2007 05:18 AM (GMT)
Perhaps the scan wasn't eluding to a game almost being finished, but that Dread (if it's ever made) will take place after Prime 3. Perhaps the ship that followed Samus was related to the Dread experiment...
SM-X - September 15, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)
...Which would, in turn, lead to a game RELATED to the Dread experiments, and, knowing Retro's propensity for titles (assuming they'll have a hand in DEVELOPING it), WILL be titled Metroid Dread.
miles07 - September 20, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
Or that Dread will end up being a remake of M2:RoS. Or a post-Fusion game. I don't know either.
Just popped in for a bit. I'm gone now.

I do recall Metroid games made exclusively by nintendo rocked, except Fusion.
And dread is in what devs call "development hell", which means the game has stopped due to either resources or ideas.

Like Miles, I just popped in for a bit, I will be gone after this post.
Um, if you look at some other scans, like some of the empty containment tanks in that room where the 'Dread' scan is, there are things that talk about 'New Strains' of Metroid, specifically from SR-388. I agree in that 'Metroid Dread' might be a remake of M2:RoS. But what I am wondering is what all that has to do with that ship at the end of the 100% run? Strange stuff.
Dragon - October 13, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
I don't know why, but I'm thinking this "Dread" project has something to do with Super Metroid. It's saying that they were trying to use Metroids as a weapon energy source. Then right beside tha, it says "Project "Dread" nearing completion. I was thinking maybe this "Project Dread" thing has something to do with Super Metroid. At the end of that game, the Metroid takes Mother rains energy and gives it to Samus, giving her a massive weapon upgrade. Is it possible that the Metroid on SM was a Space Pirate test for super weapons?
Kiroshima - October 14, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
How can it be a remake if the Prime series takes place between M2:ROS and Super Metroid, or am I getting the times mixed up?
Axion - October 14, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)
Takes place after Metroid I, and before Metroid II: RoS.
Gone now again >.>
Hyper_Shock12 - October 15, 2007 05:10 PM (GMT)
Well, youd think if they put in the extra work to say that then it would be true. My first message done on my Wii :D
