Title: Call me crazy...
Description: I'm going for it. *definite spoilers*

Gendreavus - September 5, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
So after getting 100%, I restarted the game to run through it in veteran mode, then Hyper mode afterwards. Not too long after starting the game though, I decided that since normal was a little too easy for my tastes, I wouldn't go after any expansions that would be out of my way. That then turned into "Well, technically any expansion is out of my way, since I have to sit through that whole screen saying "You got X!", so why go after any at all?" And the craziness began.

That is correct. I am currently attempting a low % run through MP3 on veteran.

I just beat Rundus (sp?) and now have 8%. What's funny is that the game forces an energy tank on you so that you can use hyper mode with out instantly killing yourself. Rundus was tough. I died a lot against him before finally crushing him under my mighty cannon (or rather he got an ice spear through the head...). Hopefully I'll be done before October...I'd like that.

BTW, including the one energy tank forced on you, can anybody calculate what % I'm going to get at the end? I would, but I'm too lazy and have other things to do (like big AP calculus packets...). I'm not really attempting any sequence breaks since every item is either needed throughout the game, or plot driven, making it seemingly impossible. I'll try anyway, but I doubt that I'll be able to find anything big.

MetaSamus - September 5, 2007 10:47 PM (GMT)
Man, good luck with that. I'm having a little early Hypermode trouble and I'm getting everything I can.

MetroidMaster1914 - September 11, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
25% or less.

SM-X - September 12, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
I've figured out that the minimum amount of health you can possibly use to engage Hypermode is one-hundred-and-one energy. Yes, I DID test it. I was in that room with the tasty blue water on Bryyo. (Tasty...!)

Anyways, I can only see you having trouble on Phaaze with the bad air, at this point. Good luck!

Gendreavus - September 12, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
I'm on Omega Ridley right now. His aerial form is freaking annoying, flying around dropping bombs on me...does anybody know of a way to avoid his air raid? Dashing doesn't seem to help much...maybe the morph ball?

SM-X - September 12, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
I'd try the boost ball, but there's no guarantee THAT'LL work...

DarkSamus - September 12, 2007 06:43 AM (GMT)
You're crazy.

Oh, did they put the planet system in? Awesome if they did.

Someone PM me with everything about the game plz, I'm never gonna get it and I dun care about spoilers anyway.

(I even read the back of books first sometimes LOL, on MP:1 I had a cheat guide which i read through first and with MP:2 I printed a cheat guide LMAO I'M PATHETIC)

Good luck on the run. You're in for ALOT of frustrating times.

Stay (sic)

So I finally beat Omega Ridley, the boost ball technique worked out, I just had to be careful of when he flew into the room and didn't drop the bombs, because then I had to be ready to unmorph and jump over the shockwave he makes when he lands. Now I'm stuck on freaking Phaaze. With only 199 energy you get this pathetic little health bar and you get that whole Dark Aether without Dark Suit feeling...except there are no safe zones, which sucks. I have to use the grapple beam to feed as much phazon as possible to as many things as possible. The good news is that every time I feed it to something, my energy is completely restored...the bad news is that it doesn't take long at all for it to come back. KILLING THE LEVIATHAN BABY IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE! Metroids hate dropping health. It's almost always either missiles or nothing.

I did get to Dark Samus once, and thankfully there is a checkpoint, but after losing five times against her after almost killing her, my mashing of the A button to skip the "you got corrupted" cutscene accidentally caused me to say that I didn't want to continue...which made it so I had to start Phaaze all over again. I almost threw my Wiimote at the TV on purpose.

*is supremely angry with Dark Samus*

Oh, and MM1914 was right. I have 25% right now and absolutely NO unnecessary items. It's sort of sad, thinking that you actually need to get 1 out of every 4 items you come across, even with something like four of the Energy Cells being optional...

SM-X - September 16, 2007 04:03 AM (GMT)
Yeah. I have one more energy cell than I'm supposed to. Just WHERE does it go exactly?

Also, if you have the right amount of items, Dark Samus is a pushover. I KNEW you'd have trouble on Phaaze!

Oh, yeah, I beat the game today [76%, 18:43]. (FINALLY, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I'VE HAD IT SINCE THE 28TH!)

Gendreavus - September 18, 2007 07:03 AM (GMT)
All the energy cells in the game are able to be used on the Valhalla, but only five(?) are necessary to get to where you need to go to beat the game.

I'm able to consistently beat Dark Samus now, and I'll even usually get to the Aurora unit's Head fight, but the lasers it fires are pretty much death when you have as little health as I do, and that sucks. When the head unit starts spinning in the air is the perfect time to be shooting it in the back, but it's always firing those weird lasers that end up destroying me...I hate it with a passion. Who decided that a supercomputer needed lasers anyway?

SM-X - September 19, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
The internet did. *Oh snap ensues*

Sylux125 - February 13, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
I have a suggestion (may not work) Try to boost ball when the Aurora is spasing lasers and get out of morph ball and use the most lethal weapons available (Hyper mode stuff somes to mind)

Gendreavus - February 13, 2008 12:33 AM (GMT)
You're always in hypermode there, and I would try boosting, but that is also one of the times when it is easiest to hit its back. I did learn a neat trick a little bit ago though: if you screw attack it when it's just flying around, it gets stunned. ^_^ Unfortunately I haven't been able to get back to it since I learned that trick, and...I must confess, I've had little time for MP3 lately, and especially since I want to get the boss battles on tape, I won't be finishing this run any time soon...

miles07 - February 13, 2008 06:19 AM (GMT)
Don't give up, though! Practice and patterns are needed. Try MANY different techniques in beating and avoiding enemies, even if it takes you 100 resets to do it. That's how I was able to beat Ridley in Zero Mission, by failing and knowing what NOT to do. What you know NOT to do helps you to know what TO do.
