 its a though that may or may not be true, but it's really up to you to decide, are they long gone or still watching over the newborn?

Somewhere, they still reside...
Well, the way Prime revealed them to us, I actually doubt they're still in this visible dimension, but they may still be somewhere out there... Maybe the next game will reveal more...

true but you have to think about it in the opposite light, all the place Samus has been had no Chozo what so ever. yet if you read the metroid manga it said that try cut off there contact to the other worlds. its a rather dabateabule question, is it not?

Everything I have ever read on Metroid has said that the Chozo have 'disappeared'. Whether or not that means that they have died off, ascended to some higher plane, or simply gone somewhere else is largely up for interpretation, but I believe that they are physically living somewhere, but have abandoned their homes that have become part of 'the system'. Places like SR-388 and Zebes that the Galactic Federation have either colonized or catagorized just aren't their style. Besides, we know they lived on Zebes less than 20 years before the games take place, so they aren't ancient, despite what the appearance of their areas may have you believe. They would have disappeared sometime in Samus's teenage years, making 10 years before the games more likely, and the galactic federation seems to have only really taken off in the last few years, so it is very likely that the approach of another civilization that tries to assimilate others into their way of living may have scared them off.

I say mabey as I agree with Gendreavus. There has never been any real confirmation that all the chozo have died out from the plain of existance, it has mainly remained a mystery. I guess Nintendo left it that way for the gamers to let their imaginations run wild, and to keep the games going.

I had to go back and read my post to figure out just what Tana was agreeing with...I can't remember half the things I type.
Reading through my post though, I realized that I just described some sort of Space Hippies. I can just imagine two Chozo sitting on a blanket getting stoned.
"Hey, dude, so like, the Galactic Federation and all, they're like, starting to explore farther and farther out...yeah..."
"No way man, that's just like, totally uncool. I'm not gonna just sit around and wait for them to like, make us a part of the system!"
"I know, totally. Fight the power, man. Give peace a chance, let's just get out of here."
"What about that human chick, dude? I think she's got the hots for you, but, like, she's totally into those gun things that the old fogies gave her."
"I dunno man, maybe we can just, like, get her to work for them, you know. That'd probably work...hey, quit hogging the bong."
Of course, we know that the Chozo weren't like that at all. If they were, Samus wouldn't be able to enter Norfair without getting high.

This post is on the assumption I'm talking to people with educations, and some experience in physics.
So therefore you know that there are multiple planes of existence, each of which operate on a different vibration level. There for the Chozo still may maintain a presence in Zebes or SR388 but on another plane of existence that only other Chozo have acess to or can see into. Kind of like the idea in the Bartimaeus Trilogy :ssbm:
P.S i'm only thirteen so feel free to correct me.

Possibilities:
- they exist in another place (3rd dimension)
- they exist in another time (4th dimension)
- they exist in another timeline (5th dimension)
- they exist in another existance (6-137th dimensions?)
Yes, Sylux, that is a strong possibility. Or maybe they actually did all die.
"So it goes."
Then in that case, they still very much live, in the past.

When I was playing Metroid Prime I could have sworn I saw a chozo in the introduction of the Phazon Mines area. I thought he was walking out of the crane control place....
But I might just be crazy...

That was a Space Pirate, sorry.
