I used CodeBreaker, not AR. lol!

Gendreavus - January 1, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
AR>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Code Breaker. :P

Then again, I have never touched, seen, used, or heard of code breaker, so that's just my biased opinion.

WTF is 1337?

Gendreavus - January 3, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (Metasamus @ Jan 1 2005, 08:11 PM)
WTF is 1337?

1337 is leet, short for elite, but when chatting on a forum is is what you call all text that uses NUM83R5 instead of letters.

A=4
B=8 or B or 6
C=C
D=D or 0
E=3
F=F
G=6 or 9
H=H or 4 (usually the open ended four, so you won't see it used that way too much)
I=1
J=J
K=K
L=1
M=M
N=N
O=0
P=9 or P
Q=0 or Q or 9
R=R
S=5
T=7
U=U
V=V
W=W
X=X or +
Y=7 or Y
Z=2 or Z

It was at first the popular way of making passwords for usernames and such, but when people like us started using it on forums and such, hackers picked it up and added the 1337 language to their list of common tricks. Now it's just a fun way to chat. Try to decypher my whole *vanishes* phrase below just for fun. First person to do it gets a pie XD

BTW, if you didn't pick it up in ^^^ and use 1337 in your password, I would change it immediately. Just a hint from your friendly neighborhood ghost ;)

Yeah, 1337 is fun...so easy to 0V3R104D though...woah...reading this topic is probably the closest thing to a hangover I've ever gotten...

*dunks his head in a bucket of water and vanishes*

Anubis - January 17, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
To be correct 1337 is 31337. It was the hacker's language wich help them communicate in chat rooms withought most people knowing what they says. But these days noobs use them to act like hackers or pretend there cool while most people look at them and pray to God never to end up like an attention needing -noob.

Here is another desdription wich I found awesome like me:
QUOTE
Hacker "Sp33k" for leet, or elite. Originating from 31337 "eleet", the UDP port used by Dead Cow Cult, a hacker group, to access Windows 95 using Back Orifice, a notorious hacking program.

Got it from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=1337&r=f And write this down, never use this language again. It is one of the lowest point in human history.

Hyperboi4evr - March 25, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
dude is it possible to skip the wave beam, or the super missile?if so tell me how!

Samus Oran - March 25, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
There's more than one super missle so...............

Gendreavus - March 31, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Yes it's possible to skip both. Wave beam you just ignore totally (you never need it's effect, although it would be incredibly easy for nintendo to make it so you needed it). For the Super Missiles, when you first enter Ridley, instead of going back up the elevator and fighting Imago, go through the door to your right, stand in the middle of the three tiled platform and shoot a missile and some normal shots straight up, then bomb jump into the hole you made. Hope that helps, and try posting in the gameplay help forum for these things. It needs some traffic every once in a while.

Hyper_Shock12 - November 16, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
I kan get high jump boots early, without screw attack or beating kraid

Gendreavus - November 17, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Yep. If you got the Varia suit early or if you have a good number of energy tanks and mad speed skills (skizzizles?) then you can get all the way through the heated area to get the Screw Attack early.

Hyper_Shock12 - November 19, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
your forgetting slanted bomb jumping :samus: .BOOM!!!!

Gendreavus - November 19, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)
Ah yes, and diagonal bomb jumping skills. It's not really that hard. I've done it before no problem. It just takes practice.

Hyper_Shock12 - November 19, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
yeah.

miles07 - December 6, 2005 01:39 AM (GMT)
In short, you can skip everything but the first Missile tank, Morph Ball, Bombs, Ice Beam (although I heard it's possible to skip it), Varia Suit, Power Grip, and the Unknown Items. Try beating it in 9% for a new ending (NRML and HARD modes only!)

Also, you can get the Screw Attack right when you enter the center part of Norfair. In the long shaft where you "blast off" at the bottom after beating Ridley, just get as up and to the left as you can, then shoot four Missiles above the top door. Then just Wall-Jump or Bomb Jump through to get it.

Go to ign.com and find the MZM FAQ/Walkthrough section made by maw28. It has everything you need to know about 15% and 100% runs (NOT SPEED RUNS)

Gendreavus - December 10, 2005 12:21 AM (GMT)
You can skip the Ice beam all the way up until you enter Tourain. If you enter Tourain without the ice beam, you're pretty much doomed immediately. The first room with a Metroid locks you in from both sides until you kill it, which is impossible without the ice beam. I got angry when I was doing a speed run and forgot to get the ice beam until then...ruined the whole thing...

I missed how she ended up running after the first blast-off. HOW THE **** DID THAT HAPPEN?

KeNshin - December 13, 2005 09:18 PM (GMT)
sequence breaking is very easy in MZ (I've been playing it again since a week or 2) I can get to the varia suit, ice beam, high jump any time I wish as soon as I have the morph ball bombs. The powergrip isn't needed for any of these, hell I Just beat ridly and kraid without ven entering the room where the Powergrip lies :P. Also you don't really need that much E-tanks to get the screw attack early. Either you run through (and 2 e tanks should suffice)or you wait till you get the speedbooster and use some shinespark skills to get there even faster and if you'e worried get the varia suit after you get the morph ball bombs. I actually did this 2 days ago and my game started like this: morph ball => 1 missile pack ==> morph ball bombs => screw attack ^^ (high jump becomes the most useless item ever after you master wall jump, (diagonal) morph jump bombing. If you like to see some examples how to do these kind of things check metroid tricks&stuff. i'm currently doing a ZM hard run, just killed kraid with 28 missiles damn that was annoying :o

Imago is fun to skip. I love doing that shinespark. Tons o' fun.

Oh, and Miles07, if you hold the control pad in the direction Samus is flying and she hits a slope, she will start running again. One of the coolest things about the shinespark.

And KeNshin, just out of curiosity, how did you get past the insect blocky thing in Norfair without getting the power grip?
*vanishes*

KeNshin - December 14, 2005 01:31 PM (GMT)
insect blocky thingy ? um I don't know what you mean but I'll try to explain what I did. When you first enter Brinstar you cando one of 2 things, either go activate the zip line or skip it and use diagonal infinite bombjumping in the second room on the left. If you wanna see how trick. If that's not what you meant could you try and specify what the insect blocky thingy is, I'll be able to answer that question then

*edit* In the meanwhile I was forced to pickup the powergrip :/, I went to norfair to kill ridley (He's already dead btw :P) but suddenly there was a block plant in the way (you know the type of plants you need to let the bugs on) and there was no way to get past it :/, so I tried picking up the grip and it was gone :(.

Kraid 2 cool - December 14, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
If we thinking the same thing...if you're talking about thoose tentacles that are in the way that can hold a thingy enemy (what's its name like a rio)just shot it whith missiles(duh).In Norfair. Aha you mean thoose things ok get it now. Man here in Sweden it's 10:36 PM. or ''klockan halv elva''.I should go to bed I'm tired and I got school tomorrow.

KeNshin - December 14, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
whoops, seems I didn't read your post very well, thought you were talking about brinstar (coz at that time I hadn't entered norfair yet) . Anyway I'm not sure about this but i thought the plant block stuff isn't there the first time you go in norfair I think I passed it a couple of days ago on the NORMAL difficulty (not sure been playing it so many times trying every sort of SB I don't know what I did at that time)

Gendreavus - December 15, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
Actually the reason I asked is because that plant blocky thing is programmed to be there until you get the power grip, making it impossible to skip unfortunately. I was hoping that you managed to figure a way to circumnavigate it, but I guess not. Oh well.
*vanishes*

KeNshin - December 15, 2005 09:42 AM (GMT)
guess we can't :(, oh well it's only the powergrip. If you like a challenge complete kraid without activating the zipline and without the powergrip (and mb even without the varia ), you'll need some good infinite bomb jumping skills to get through some parts

Kraid 2 cool - December 15, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
I'm quite good at bombjumping.

miles07 - December 15, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
I pwn at Bomb Jumping.
