You picked a really bad time to do this...

I really don't know how to start this post, as I am at a loss for words. Have you ever been so angry that you're not sure how to react? Your anger is burning inside, but you just can't think of any facial expressions or words to describe it? This is what I'm feeling now.

I think that if I could show what MHQ is right now to my 14-year-old MHQ-creating self, I don't think I would've bothered to make it.

As many of you might have guessed, I'm posting this announcement in response to a recently created topic that got way out of control. And that's a severe understatement.


In that topic, after seeing the first page I realized that things could start to escalate in that topic, so I told everyone to chill and keep on topic. But then some members decided not to heed my advice and kept debating, which led to arguing, which led to flaming, which then led into an all out flame war. This was done by three members in particular (yes I'm naming names): fly_boy42, Communist Shark, and PBafterflaaghar. What I have to say to you is: How dare you?

You join my forums, which I've worked so hard to keep a dignified member of the Metroid community (and I pay for in full with my own personal money), and not only disrespect me, but my trusted staff members too. Here they are trying to do the jobs I've given them, and you flat out ignore them just like you ignored me.* Even after Dragon made this very to-the-point post...

...you didn't stop. This led to the least involved of the three getting suspended for a week, when it should've been all of you.

This is a Metroid forum. Sure, we allow topics of all subjects, but all discussions are to be on topic. Now if it's one or two light-hearted posts, you know I'm lenient. I try my best to be be a cool, down-to-earth webmaster who's easy to get along with. In fact, I talk to just about all of you on MSN or some other medium. But I DO NOT tolerate this kind of behavior on my forum. If you can't respect my authority here, then leave now.


I want you all to know that, for the first time ever, after seeing this, I seriously considered just taking the board offline and leaving MHQ to fend for itself, even after all the time, money, and devotion I've shown to this place. That better mean something to you. If it doesn't, I might as well just reconsider...

I know that you all have your side of the story, and that you all "weren't the one to start it." But quite frankly, I don't care. All three of you were heavily flaming each other, and you now have you posting privileges suspended for five days. that should be enough time for you to get your act together. If you can't...well then...there's only one thing that comes after suspension...just ask xgmx.

Post replies if you want, but I'm done for the night. I'll also lock this topic at the end of your suspension period. And try to keep the board in shape while I'm asleep, mkay?

I don't care if it something you would say, just don't say it where it's not on topic. You are the worst at the off-topicness, FYI.

I know how you feel MM but don't shut the place down because something got out of hand. I would hate to see the place go because of this and I would miss the place a ton. I hate to see when friends fight to but it's one of those things in life. You have a lot of great members here.

I was asked to come here from a good friend so I hunted the place out and saw a lot of nice helpful people and I knew I could make firends with everybody. Yes I could have refused his offer but I didn't and I'm glad I took his offer.

I know you and your staff do your best to keep the place running smoothly but there'll always be a few bumps in the road, every forum goes thru it some more then others. You know I used to run my own forums for a about 4 years and I had the same things happen.

Wow, this really reminds me of another forum i go to (actually work for). A topic about the election started...

It led to 2 Global Moderators from it stepping down and the webmaster almost shutting down the forums for a whole month (we had some other crap going on earlier, some really sad stuff).

yes, lets stay on topic and not be like the others... please don't shut down the site though. I have noticed it's one of the most active metroid sites I (and probably the others) have ever met, even more active than MFM. now, remember what was in your old sig MM? what it was miles said (I cant copy it word for word but....) this is the best metroid site. ain't no doubt about it. also adding would be how sad it would be for miles to return after he left only to find this place died by 3 members... one whom was on his list of annoyance too. Shrander, Dragon, Anubis, and Emperor are awesome moderators. I am pretty sure they can keep thins place in order, but not without you. you are the pillar of MHQ metroidmaster, the pillar has been cracked but surely we can fix what errors have been done, right? just think about all the amazing things that have gone on here, how awesome this site is, and the members. if this place was gone, where would be our new HQ? members like adorios and miles, what would happen to them? MHQ is like a pillar right next to the metroid series, lose that pillar and we loose our love of the metroid series. I have visited this place at least more than 3,000 times... that is the most I have ever visited a place I think, probably the same for the other members. so see? this site is amazing in many ways, don't loose it, what you have here is something far more amazing than you think.

I don't know how it came across, but what I meant to say was that the though crossed my mind for the first time seriously. But that's all it did--crossed my mind. I have no intention of shutting it down or abandoning it. So everyone breathe easy, MHQ isn't going anywhere soon...

Even though I am not on the list of people to be blamed, I apoligise for being the first to go off topic, I'm not sure if what I said actually was the main cause, but I know it started it, so for that I am sorry.

I have sent you another donation as a solid reminder to my commitment to wanting to see this forum continue and survive. I don't want to see it go, so I choose to demonstrate by action, rather than by words that I want you to keep this going.

What happened was tragic and (if I can be blunt) quite childish, acts inappropriate for a forum about Metroid, not how to spread hate about other forum members.

I agree. If people want to hate other forum members, they should do it somwhere else, not here.
