Title: Best Soundtrack
Lucifuga - March 24, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
Lots of soundtrack topics lately. What's up with that anyway?
Every Metroid game has its unique soundtrack. Which one do you like the most?

Super Metroid was the game that got me into the series in the first place. I had the music stuck in my head for years. I never really finished it. Half a decade later it got released on the Virtual Console I bought it right away and played through it. Multiple times.
In my opinion the first two Prime games has the greatest music in the series. The scores fits the atmospheres perfectly and it has high nostalgic value to me.
I remember when me and Gamma both went to buy Prime 2, finally out in Europe. We were excited to say the least.
I remember starting up the game and hearing
this.Few things can top that feeling I got. Still gives me goosebumps...
Prime 2 also has one of the best songs I have ever heard in a video game.
Torvus Bog.This is what I think of when I think of Metroid. To me, Torvus Bog is the perfect Metroid area. It's just beautiful.
The first Prime really is special. It's hard to put my feelings about this game into words. It's that good.
It's almost as if I'm put in a trance of some sort when I listen through the Prime OST. It really calms me down. Well done, Kenji. Well done.

Prime 1. How about a best soundtrack for any game topic?

Super Metroid had the best melodic soundtrack (as in the songs are something you could hum along to), but Metroid Prime had the best overall soundtrack by far. All of the ambient noise and suspenseful buildups work perfectly, and believe it or not, I actually have the Phazon Mines depths track on my Zune. It's fun to just chill out to.
Edit: WHO VOTED FOR PRIME PINBALL!?
StrafeHunter - March 25, 2009 09:43 AM (GMT)
Someone without any other Metroid game obviously.
And Torvus bog is pretty cool, but I prefer the Tallon Overworld Themes.
What I really liked about Prime 1's music was the fact that the boss musics actually had an influance on the mood of the battle. Try fighting Meta Ridley with the music off, its no where near as exciting.

wouldn't it be considered poor music writing if the music didn't add to the scene? Isn't that it's job?
Imagine fighting omega ridley while listening to the hamster dance? Not so great, huh?
Wasn't the metroid pinball music the more rock based one? I dunno, I never played it.

Imagine Omega Ridley with
this song.

Agreed. I actually have that track, too (on my iPod).
Super Metroid is very good, but I voted for Metroid Prime. It's just so awesome. If I've been playing, the music stays stuck in my head for hours.

this is a really tough desicion, it's between MZM and prime 1 and 2.
StrafeHunter - March 26, 2009 11:20 AM (GMT)
Well its easy then, prime 1! ;)

Metroid - Classic, but the polyphonic aspect kinda detracts. I'd vote MZM before this one.
Metroid 2: Return of Samus - only really four tracks of music; everything else is ambience crap.
Super Metroid - B) Top 3.
Metroid Fusion - Definitely good stuff; this would be in my top 3.
Metroid Prime - YES. Top 4.
Metroid: Zero Mission - Noicely done. Top 3.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Not enough good "level" BGMs.
Metroid Prime Pinball - Nice remixes, but they made a few critical errors (Magmoor Caverns, anyone?)
Metroid Prime Hunters - NOPE.
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
SM-X - March 28, 2009 05:13 PM (GMT)
I think Corruption had the best boss battle assortment, but I'm going to have the hand the best overall soundtrack to Metroid Prime, simply for Phendrana Drifts.
*sigh*
Such a beautiful song...
Miles07 - March 28, 2009 07:43 PM (GMT)
IMO.
Phendrana Drifts < Phendrana's Edge
Anyday. But yes, PD because it seems like such an ethereal theme, similar to the SkyTown theme, in a way. Still, you can dance pretty darn well to PE.
