Title: Walkthroughs
Description: have you used them?

Metroidude - April 7, 2009 01:53 PM (GMT)
I have used them only once, on Metroid Prime, To get 100% items completion. I started after Flaahgra, however.

StrafeHunter - April 7, 2009 02:22 PM (GMT)
I used them for Prime 1 and 2, with Prime 3 they did it for you...

Nice random attachment...

StrafeHunter - April 7, 2009 02:44 PM (GMT)

lol.
You say you used a Walkthrough for MP2? Im currently playING it without a walkthrough. (I did with Metroid Prime 1, and I became too dependent on it, so Im not doing it on MP2. It totally ruins the experience for me (My opinion).

StrafeHunter - April 7, 2009 03:22 PM (GMT)
I played through it once without, then did it with to get 100%. But for MP2 even with the walkthrough I didn't get 100%... THat sneaky missile expantion...

Its always the Missile expansion, isn't it? There are like, 50 in each game! PBs and E tanks are like "Pssshhhh" too easy! :P
That almost happened to me in Prime 1, I had all but 1 missile expansion, and I looked on walkthroughs, but i wasnt sure which one i was missing! lol I hated that missile expansion. I found it eventually, though.

I usually beat the game once, then use walkthroughs to get anything that I missed, or if a particular boss/area/puzzle/etc. are giving me too much trouble. ( or I'm too lazy to figure it out.)

That's how I started in MP1, but then I got way too lazy and did the rest of the game with it... I wish I hadn't...

Always works, eventually. Beat the game through once by yourself, then go back with an "expert" for the sake of completionism.

I only did that with metroid prime. I still haven't done that with MZM though!

Lactor - April 10, 2009 04:35 AM (GMT)
I didn't use a walkthrough at all for MZM until I was at 90% or something. I just methodically searched everywhere, usually implementing power bombs. I had way too much time on my hands...

DUde me too! Except i only got 80%! But no walkthrough yet...

StrafeHunter - April 10, 2009 05:39 PM (GMT)
I got 100% on MZM and MP3 without a guide.

But MP3 told you where they were and my MZM 100% file has over 20 hours of playtime to it.

Metroidude - April 10, 2009 06:08 PM (GMT)
no wonder... I liked how MZM showed where they were better than that annoying sound on MP.

Miles07 - April 10, 2009 08:47 PM (GMT)
Well, the "annoying sound" on MP was better for me, 'cuz it was like a game of Warm/Cold. The 2D games' "hints" only tell you that it's in a room you've visited.

Metroidude - April 10, 2009 10:27 PM (GMT)
I guess... but its a little hard to tell where exactly it is in both cases!

Matthordika - April 18, 2009 02:14 PM (GMT)
I only used a waklthrough for Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and when I got really stuck in Super Metroid. Also in this one part for Zero Mission, but I was being stupid.

Lucifuga - April 18, 2009 02:32 PM (GMT)
I still have my outdated walkthrough of MP 1 and 2. I need to get a new one. The one I have doesn't include every item.
I used a walkthrough for Prime 1 and 2 but I didn't bother with 3. I did print out a 100% Item Guide some weeks after I finished Prime 3.

What about a strategy guide? The Nintendo Power guides are great for things like that, and IGN has great online guides anyway. Also, you might want to try out Gamespot.com. They have a HUGE repository of guides, FAQs, and walkthroughs for just about ANYTHING.

I always use Nintendo Power strategy guides and the IGN ones by fans. Actually, I used a fan guide to get past a part in Fusion.
