Kraid 2 cool - July 25, 2006 01:46 PM (GMT)
The Screw attack!! But Spider ball's also nice.

Omega - July 25, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
It was perfected in Prime.

Kraid 2 cool - July 25, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
Indeed, the controls of the spider ball in metroid2's little messed up.

Vader_The_Darkness - July 30, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
My is the Screw Attack.

Hyper_Shock12 - July 30, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)

Kraid 2 cool - August 14, 2006 11:10 AM (GMT)
Screw attack looks, and sounds, wierd. But it's cool anyway.

Omega Metroid adv - September 6, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
danadanadanadanadanadanadanadana spider ball! spider ball!

Kuro-chan - April 16, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
You could deflect Metroids with Screw Attack, part of what made it neat.

For weapons, I always went with Spazer so I would stand a better chance at hitting something than the Plasma Beam. While Plasma Beam is pretty powerful, it's firing arc was rather limited.

miles07 - April 19, 2008 02:10 AM (GMT)
BUMP...

True that, Kuro-Chan, but, in the end, the Ice Beam is the real necessity. Only the first three games have such a dependability on that beam. After them, you need them all in order to get to the end of the game. What's up with that?

Why can't Nintendo (and Sega) go back to their roots?!?!?!?

Kuro-chan - April 19, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
Game design. It makes you go through all the essentials.

I think for Super Metroid, you do not actually need Plasma Beam, Charge Beam or Spazer... If you really want to push your luck, you might not even need Ice Beam if you are VERY good with wall climbing and know the alternate method of beating Metroids.

The Ice Beam is absolutely necessary for beating the final Metroids... odd that there was an Ice Beam available so close to the Queen's Lair... coincedence?

miles07 - April 23, 2008 12:00 AM (GMT)
Um, because they knew that players would get too frustrated trying to beat the Tallon Metroids, realize that they needed the Ice Beam, and then die trying to go back to find the nearest one (by the Armory Ruins). So they added the statue nearby to remedy that.

Man. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't've been able to find the upgrades without that map I found online...

Kuro-chan - April 23, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
Well, I was thinking more of a logic perspective than a player's perspective. Would you want you one critical weakness sitting outside your base of operations?

You needed a map?! ... Dang, what the internet can do for you these days...

Kraid 2 cool - April 23, 2008 08:45 PM (GMT)
Are you saying you DIDN'T use a map, Kuro-Chan?

Kuro-chan - April 23, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
I was 12 when I was playing it... 16 years ago. Maps were not exactly common source back then, so it was up to some genuine exploration to figure out where everything was.

miles07 - April 29, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
Insider info...

And I voted for the Screw Attack... just 'cuz.

dragon_slayer - May 30, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
It was always more fun to have to hunt the items and where you were supposed to go. it made the game more challenging

Kuro-chan - May 31, 2008 11:12 AM (GMT)
A lot of people these days don't want challenge. They want to beat it so they have something to brag about.

Hudson Platt - May 31, 2008 08:28 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this is almost 2 months old, but this place needs some posts.

I voted the Screw Attack. It has always looked rather cool, no matter what game it appears in.

Kraid 2 cool - May 31, 2008 08:40 PM (GMT)
I think M2's Screw Attack was pretty lame. Still, it's the best in the game.

Hudson Platt - May 31, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
Lol. It was just a normal spin jump Samus with flashing lights wasn't it?

Kuro-chan - June 1, 2008 02:36 PM (GMT)
In M1, the Screw Attack was Samus jumping through the air in alternating colors

In M2, they could not do that, so they finally added some real graphics to Samus to actually show she was Screw Attack-ing through the air. There is a difference in sprites between Space Jump and Screw Attack. If you manage to get Screw Attack before Space Jump. (I did one... NOT easy and very costly in health) you still get the Screw Attack sprites, just not be able to perform multiple jumps.

Hudson Platt - June 1, 2008 08:38 PM (GMT)
Freaky. Screw Attack without the Space Jump is like....Metroid without metroids...wait...they did that...

Kuro-chan - June 1, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Well, as it stands, games without Screw Attack include:

- Metroid Prime
- Metroid Prime Hunter

Metroid Prime had metroids in them :)

Hudson Platt - June 2, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
Actually, pinball had the Screw Attack. When you do the wall jump thing, you use the Screw Attack to kill the Puffers.

Kuro-chan - June 2, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
You're right. The above post has been edited. I stand corrected.

Hudson Platt - June 2, 2008 08:20 PM (GMT)
Yea! I was right about something!

Kuro-chan - June 2, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
Err... Yes you were. Screw Attack you.

Heh... Metroid 2 was such a drastic evolution for the Metroid series even though it is so often overlooked... Oh well.

Gearmaster - June 18, 2008 05:10 AM (GMT)
Ice beam person.
I love to freeze things then jump up and down on them going "hahahahahaha"

hmm whenever I say person it says person
curious, most forums just censor the word person.
I can have such fun with this.

StrafeHunter - June 18, 2008 04:04 PM (GMT)
Sorry metroid 2 is the only one i haven't played :(

And what is so funny about the word person?

Gearmaster - June 18, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
because person is teh censor word for b*tch and I find the choice of word to censor the bad word humerous.

StrafeHunter - June 18, 2008 06:43 PM (GMT)
Ah, i could have fun with that too :D

PhazonBall - July 20, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
Spider Ball is best for me.

shadow metroid - February 8, 2009 02:43 AM (GMT)
Spazer Beam, it really needs to be in more metroid games.

kenji imatake - February 9, 2009 03:05 AM (GMT)
spazer beam also, it's awesome. although, spiderball is cool too; described as gooey, not some magnetic ball.
EDIT: I didn't notice... don't post in almost year old topics, kay shadow metroid?

Miles07 - February 18, 2009 05:42 PM (GMT)
Unless it's still a valid topic...
