Title: MP2D
MaxPwnage - June 23, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Alright, here you go. This is the topic for MP2D, a fan-remake of Prime in 2D. Anything you wanna talk about regarding this remake, like the build demos, goes here.
General info: there's a link at the bottom of the screen, for those who want to see it.
Also, I put this here because it is a complete remake of the original to the letter, not a fangame, and therefore it belongs here. Just covering all bases, mods. ^_^
Anubis - June 24, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
Well it isnt official...Well I guess here is a good spot, I don't really care where it goes.
As to stay on topic: How long has the project been going on?
Gendreavus - June 24, 2006 03:20 AM (GMT)
Since well before I left SCU, meaning quite a bit more than a year now.

Just an update: MP2D progress is coming along quite nicely. The actual demo should be up in a few weeks, at most; a week at the least.
Trust me on this one: it is good.
Omega - October 28, 2006 10:50 AM (GMT)
We'll see. I bet it won't be up for a month at least.
Dragon - October 28, 2006 01:59 PM (GMT)
I don't like MP2D, and I can't stop thinking they are getting
too much undeserved attention. The Admins are insane,
have uncontrolable temper problems, and warn/ ban you
for the slightest of things. I think their game is boring,
and Im starting to hate them. It's like they think they are far
superiour to everyine else, and I think thats what making e hate
all of them. I also know there are many people who agree with me here...
Omega - October 28, 2006 03:08 PM (GMT)
I'm one of them. They warn you for advertising! And that's not anywhere in the Rules! I hate that place.
SA.09.21 - October 28, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
Shrander - October 28, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
Not everyone. The people who love it, are insane, bored as hell, have misguided judgement, are really stupid, or all of the above.
Omega - October 29, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
Like Daz? He;s the worst of 'em all.
Dragon - October 29, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
Dazz, yeah I don't like him either. And don't even get me
started with CFX...
Omega - October 29, 2006 10:36 AM (GMT)
He still goes there? I despise him....
Anubis - October 29, 2006 03:01 PM (GMT)
All right now, lets stop the current conversation.
Dragon - October 29, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
Seriously, he threatened to hack one of my friends computers,
not only was that unesicary, but very disrespectfull too....
Anywho... Yeah, I think they should have made the project
in TGF/ MMF. That way there would be more programmers,
better progress, and the first demo could have been done already...
Omega Metroid adv - October 30, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
...i don't see the link, but they can't be as bad as...metroidgalaxy
*shudders*
what a bunch of swearing, sour apples!

If you visit go to a Church and get exorcised by a Priest afterwards.
Seriously, unless you like constantly cursing Mods/Admins and worthless topics don't go.
Algernon - December 15, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
I have had absolutely NO trouble with the SCU admins, and I've been there for a couple months. If you break the rules you get rebuked, that simple. I found the board very friendly.
Rewrite - December 15, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
I found it extrememly UNFRIENDLY, the people there are screwed up... as soon as I mentioned "MHQ" dazz and his bs ass friends ganged up on me and made fun of mhq, that really pissed me off... so sorry to disappoint you, but I dont like SCU(please dont take this the wrong, way... I dont hate u, just scu :P)
Emperor - December 15, 2006 02:22 PM (GMT)
Well I can't really say anything 'bout SCU, since they never activated my account, after I had to go through that whole "password" thing. >_>
Shrander - December 15, 2006 02:57 PM (GMT)
They are too afraid. It is sad really.

Honestly, if you think SCU is tough, join GameFAQs or GameSpot. :P
ridley - March 14, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
they have not accepted me <_<
Shrander - March 14, 2007 10:06 PM (GMT)
SCU is down now. They aren't worth the effort anyway.
Dragon - March 20, 2007 01:19 AM (GMT)
This whole thing is a giant rant against MP2D and the SCU forum...
I know I am parially to blame for this, but it's best this is locked
or we change the attitude we have here.
EDIT: ugh, Im the one who started this whole mess... I apologise if I offended anyone, I must have been in a bad mood or something then.
Gearmaster - March 20, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Oh don't worry, I forgive you for turning people at each other throats over a game.
Just kidding.
Gendreavus - March 20, 2007 05:41 AM (GMT)
About the forgiving, or that he turned people against each other?
Either way, it sort of annoys me that SCU is dying...I mean, I'm not really that attached to it anymore, but just the fact that Mills would just let it all go to pot that easily. Honestly, the whole reason it's dead is because he took the link to it down from the main page. Sure, it will make it tougher for the hackers to get at it, but it also makes it practically unknown to any newbies, which SCU thrives on.
And MP2D...I really don't want to see that die. I know that it's just a fan-game, but it's a huge project that lots of people put tons of effort into, and once they release the demo, that should mean that most of the work (i.e. physics, controls, basic AI, etc.) has been done and the rest is mostly laying down the map...of course I could be completely wrong considering I don't know half of what goes on over there, but still, it shouldn't die.

MP normal is good enough for me, the DD version will keep me busey on those long America/London plane flights if tis ever compleated.

Dispite what I said before, it does kind of suck that the project will die but honestly, most people already thought it would end this way. IMO it's just
too big a project to handle, people have to dedicate tooo much time into it,
and they have lifes outside of the project.
One thing that bothers me is after the demo is released, they are remaking
the engine. I hear the engine remake is done already (it's a C++ engine I think),
and it will make it a ton easier to add stuff to the game.
Shrander - March 20, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
It is bad to see a fan game go down. But I don't see why it took them this long to just get one level done!
I remember looking up to it when I was a kid.
That was years ago >_>
Dragon - March 20, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
MP2D inspired alot of people to want to create games. The game that got me to want to make MF2: PB was some GM Metroid fangamed called "Metroid Redemption".

I've been wondering the same thing! They did say at one point that they had their priorities wrong and that they were focusing more on spriting and music making more than the programming or physics, but I have a hard time believing that it's taking this long to get the first level done. I mean, look how quickly they crapped out the build demos. Why can't the actual demo be just as quick?

Dragon - March 20, 2007 10:34 PM (GMT)
I'll tell you this, it certainly doesn't take long to build a couple of rooms in game maker. They were probably just being lazy.
Rewrite - March 21, 2007 12:38 AM (GMT)
Now here is something that pisses me off. CoreFusionX decides to make an engine in GM6. That's fine. CoreFusionX decides to make Destroyer F make the demos in GM6. That's fine. CoreFusionX decides to make the ACTUAL engine, in C++. That's fine, but a little crazy.
CoreFusionX has hardly any progress on his engine, and when someone asks him about it(even friendly)he snaps and says his 'ol 1-2 cfx-up "You know what? I have a life. It's hard to manage a house, my dog, a girlfriend, and blah nblah blah." That PISSES me off.
Now I know I don't have right to point out my opinion, but the guy just straight out says, "I am not doing the engine because I have a 'life' and I'm not going to start because I have a 'life' and because I wouldn't get at least 3-4 hours to work on it a day."
What I don't get is why people hate MP2D so much. I understand most of the people in it are messed up(of course, this is some of the sprites, and most of the project leaders), but that doesn't mean they should hate mp2d. Mp2d, is a good project, with skilled team members. And I go for it all the way.
SCU, not everyone there is "stuck up." I was there for a while, and the only people who ever made fun of me about going to M.H.Q. were: Dazzy, CFX, and a couple other people. And this was only on the IRC Chat. Andrew Mills is an okay guy. I've talked to him before, he seems willing, but it's, according to him, so much work he has to do in a day.
I'm not against anybody, but I don't like certain people(this doesn't mean I hate them, or just are against them). The only thing I can't stand about CfX is his Self-Praising.
Self-Praising is good, even I do it. But when you exaggerate to the point he does, it's a bit hard to believe he knows 14 fluent languages. I mean, come on, he says he is 18, and he knows 14? That's like saying I'm 15, and started Micro$oft(I know that has nothing to do with M$, but I'm trying to connect the dots here people).
It isn't IMPOSSIBLE, but to his extent, it's a bit annoying. Although you don't require proof for something you claim(you could easily have proof, the fact that you know it, and that you can see it)but I just don't believe it. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he DOES know that many languages. But to me, it's hard to believe.
For any that were insulted, I apologize. Rewrite out~

I'm gonna hafta agree with you in some places. I haven't heard of ANY updates for MP2D for a long time (...try for a year!), but I'm gonna hafta say that it was a very good idea at the start. Now, since they haven't done much on it, it's just joined the :( long list of incomplete fangames that now plague the Internet and the world. I wanted to see it done, but I'm afraid that's just wishful thinking.
And now, frankly, I'm bored of waiting...

Haha. Get your facts first Miles. There have been ton of updates on the SCU forum, and some updates shown on the mp2d site. <_<
miles07 - March 30, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
Except for the site is down right now... and the last time (before now) that I've checked, nothing had happened to it. This must've been about six months ago.
