Anybody do this WITHOUT cheating?, You know, it's pretty tough

It all went fine untill the rooms started repeating themself, and I started to have no idea where I was walking i.i That really went on my nerves. Can't understand how they made it through it in the old days. Glad they made Zero Mission so we all could play the original again or for the first time. NIntendo is not good, but not bad when it comes to Metroid.
Good: MZM remake
Bad: NO new Metroid games!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for at least 2 years!!!!!!!

I wish, these days, our best bet of a non remake of metroid is some mini game in warioware

Anyways, do people really cheat on the NES Metroid? It's not what I would call "difficult," though I suppose funny passwords are hard to pass by. Fiesta Ridley, anyone?

I researched a map and a good route several years ago and I've stuck with it ever since. Go fetch the Ice Beam, then the High Jump Boots, then the Varia Suit, then the Screw Attack. Beat Ridley first (since you're in the area), then Kraid. Save the Energy Tank in the ceiling in Brinstar for last just in case you die in Tourain and need a refill. I used that plan to show a friend his first NES experience on GameCube. I had to do the double-facepalm when he said "Varia? I thought that was from Metroid Prime!"
