Change Log
QUOTE
Changed name from Metris to Tetroid.
Added Music capability and sound effects
Modified the Metroid AI to attack blocks that are in higher rows instead of the metroids attacking random blocks.
Changed the controls so that up and down rotate the block and space increases its falling speed.
Changed all but two of the specials to be activated upon the user pressing a key instead of them activating upon being acquired.
Added an outline around all blocks.
Adjusted the lava in the Norfair level to be more transparent.
Adjusted the Zoomer special so that it'll show a different sprite in Norfair.
Added a “preview block” that will show where the current block will land.
Added a longer delay between when a block is set down and when it “locks”.
Fully updated the info screen.
Added a background to the message boxes.
Fixed a line clearing glitch which would result in the speed not increasing.
Fixed an error involving the Power Bomb and Metroid specials.
Fixed an accidental highscore password leak leftover from testing.
Fixed a glitch involving the line clearing that would result in the upper blocks not falling all the way down.

~~~Begin Music Guide~~~
Upon opening the music settings file, you will see something similar to this.
CODE
[Startup]
Music=enabled
[Title]
Track1=MZM Title.ogg
Track1Vol=100
[End]
Trackmax=1
Track1=MZM Mission Accomplished.mp3
Track1Vol=25
[Brinstar]
Trackmax=1
Track1=SM Green Brinstar.mp3
Track1Vol=100
[Norfair]
Trackmax=1
Track1=MZM Norfair.ogg
Track1Vol=100
[Tourian]
Trackmax=1
Track1=MZM Tourian.ogg
Track1Vol=100
[Alllevels]
Trackmax=0
[Startup]
The only thing this defines is whether music is enabled or not. If you are modifying the settings file that came with the game, music will be set to disabled. You'll want to enable it.
[Title] and [End]
These are the sections for tracks at the title menu and the end screen.
[Brinstar], [Norfair] and [Tourian]
These are the sections for each levels music.
[All]
This section is for tracks that you want to appear in /all/ of the levels.
There are three parts to each section.
CODE
Trackmax
This specifies the total amount of tracks for the section. It is written in the form Trackmax=n.
CODE
TrackN
This defines the actual file name (extension included!) of the track. It is written in the form TrackN = name. N is the track number (starting at 1), if N is more than trackmax, the song will not be added!
CODE
TrackNVol
This defines the volume of the track listed in the previous section (replace N with the number listed for the specific track). This cannot be more than 100, or less than 0, and the game will auto round it if the value is out of that range. Note: This functions as a percent, and thus, the volume of a track can only be lowered, not raised.
If you put more than one track in a section, the game will randomly choose between those listed (and if it's a level section, the game will also account for the tracks in the all section.)
~~~End Music Guide~~~

Scoreboard.

If any glitches crop up, make sure to post them here so I can fix them right away.

I think that's everything. wink.gif

EDIT: Version 2.1 uploaded, Music Packs have a mirror now as well.

Anubis has issues to raise.
Anubis' issues are these:
There is only one direction to rotate a piece. Anubis recommends making the down arrow counter to the direction of the up arrow and use the space bar for dropping the pieces quicker.
Anubis also has a problem with recognizing some of the pieces. Due to their lack of a clear outline, Anubis would be confused on whether or not he had an opening or if the piece he had was a T or an O or maybe a S or Z.
Anubis likes the concept.
Anubis would like to see the specials be released when the player wants, instead of just they are, for the lack of a better term, achieved. It was frustrating having a perfect spot for a piece turn into a whole new thing once those missiles came raining down.
Anubis waits for next release.

Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated - I only had about a week to make the game, so I wasn't able to get a whole lot of info from others about issues like those. I'll make sure to get all three of the issues you mentioned fixed in version 2. Thanks for playing. tongue.gif

I just noticed.
Someone could easily erase my highscore by simply submitting the name "Anubis" to any lower score.

I like it. Much more interesting than the other three or four Metrises out there.

When you get a Metroid Attack and then a Power Bomb, an error message will repeat indefinitely. Action 1 of Step Event for obj_metroid, line 10--unknown variable target. Also, bombs sit there and bounce a little and otherwise do nothing sometimes. Yeah, the pieces need to be brighter and more obviously separate from the background. There should be a move-the-block-down-instantly button and, as Anubis said, a rotate-the-other-way button. Specials detract from the gameplay as-is. That's what I've found unsatisfactory so far.

Alright, again, thanks for the feedback. I missed that error before, but it won't be too hard to fix...as for the bombs, I'll make sure to get that bug fixed. I will definitely change the specials to be activated when the user defines them and get the other things you mentioned too.

Also, Anubis, the high score list only updates your score if you submit one higher than the current one to prevent people from lowering your score.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to get a lot done this week because I'm going to be going to Comic Con from Thursday to Sunday, but I should have version 2 ready in a week or two.

Hmm... This look good... I'll, uh, have to give it a try...

At least, in the final version, include the original Tetris music...

Also, Anubis likes to use the third person a lot.

I broke the game.
I was playing, like a true master.
And then I broke the game.
My speed never rose above 2.
I could have gone on forever. And when I say forever, I mean it.
I could have racked a score of over a million.
Someone much more sick than I would have.
I couldn't go on.
If I had gone on, the highlight of my life would have been that highscore.
Someday I'll regret quitting.
But for god's sake, I am so on the tetris effect right now.
I can reorganize my entire room if I want to, because my head is treating reality like tetris.
I better get some sleep right now and dream of blocks falling on top of me.

Make the difficulty automatically ramp up as you get higher scores..

I don't know who put you up to this Emperor, but you cannot make me unlove tetris.
I don't care if I am stuck playing for 12 days at a slow pace, but I will never unlove tetris.
It was the dang Russians who put you up to this, wasn't it? Well, you go tell them I wont quit this time. No way, I'm playing to the end.
My score right now is 270,000+ and I have 10 lives, if it takes me a year to finish this game, I'll do it.

Seriously though, the speed thing is broken like no tomorrow.

Maybe make it an option. As in, on the Options menu, you can turn the "ghost" on or off. That's a better idea!

Make the difficulty automatically ramp up as you get higher scores..

The difficulty will ramp fine without the speed glitch, which happens when you clear two or more rows at once. >.< I've already fixed this in the game, and if you guys want, I might release a version 1.5 with these bugs fixed and some of the features mentioned here in it, but without sound or the info screen. Also, having ghost pieces being an option sounds good to me.

Thanks for the suggestions, and bug reports, I had a very small testing period so you'll have to forgive the bugs until the next version. tongue.gif
