My Metroid Story
The story of how Metroidmaster1914 was banned from SCU, how he came back from it, how it affected MHQ, and where he is now.

Hai all! I'm Metroidmaster1914. Well if your seeing this post, I or someone else I told told you to go here to find out about my "complicated" internet story. I can tell you right now, this is a long story, and some parts might not seem like it has any relevance, but it'll all make sense once the story is done. Well I might as well get started then.

I guess I first became a sort of an internet person in April of 2003, when my household got DSL. I immediately searched the internet for things I could do on it, but I didn't really find anything of interest. Then I found out that there was going to be a Metroid Prime 2. My mission in life from that point on was to get as much info about MP2 as I could.

Thinking it was the best place to go, I went to Nintendo.com and join their old Nsider Forums, not really knowing what the heck a forum was. I was really a Class- A n00b back then, but I evenually learned a thing or two about online communities. Unfortunately for me at the time, the Nintendo forums presented nothing to know about MP2, so I decided to leave at around June 2004. The thing was, I didn't know where to go for information.

I first heard about Samus.co.uk on the Nsider Forums, joined, and then left. I did, however, find myself back there later after I left Nintendo. I joined SCU in April of 2004, trying to find all the info I could about Metroid Prime 2. It wasn't until June when I was cleaning up my favorites list when I discovered what an awsome site SCU was. It was then when I became an active member. It was around that time when I also discovered another thing that that caught my eye, MP2D. I immediately joined to do what came most naturally to me: making maps.

With the discovery of MP2D, I immediately started looking for other fan games to help out with, witch is how I came accross the Metroid Chaos project. The founder of the project was a fellow I knew as Master_Metroid. When I joined the project I said that I would help out with maps and that I was a tile mapper for MP2D. In response, I got a PM from MM saying to not advertise MP2D there. I agreed, and then he invited me to talk with him about the maps for Metroid Chaos. So we talked about them for about 10 minutes and then we just talked. We then started talking regularly and got to know each other pretty well. So I thought.

With all the excitment of MP2D, I decided to start my own forum, MHQ (a lot of kids were making their own forum back then; it was the cool thing to do). It was dead at first, but when I advertised it on SCU, it got a few members. We then decided to make our own community fan game, Metroid Evolution. Master_Metroid said he was behind me 100% in ways of MHQ. He always wanted it to be bigger and better, but I was content with the rate it was growing. It was at this time that I became slightly suspicious of him, and yet I still trusted him.

It was around this time that DestroyerF, the current webmaster of MP2D.co.uk, had to resign as webmaster and started to look for a new one. Now I had a sufficent knowledge of HTML and felt like I could at least maintain the site, so I offered to do the job. One week later, I was the new webmaster of MP2D.co.uk. The thing was, after I thought about it, I got to thinking that I didn't know enough HTML, and I knew no CSS what-so-ever, so I decided to test my skills a bit. I made a new folder in MP2D.co.uk called MHQ as a test area (MHQ was just the name I slapped on there to give it a name). It was simply so that I could experiment with CSS code.

During all of this, MM said that he had made some graphics and such for MHQ, but the problem was he didn't have anywhere to upload it. He said that he tried email, filespace.org, and every other free server he could find. He eventually asked me if he could upload it to the MP2D server. At first I blatantly refused, but he continually worked on me until I finally agreed, as I thought he could seriously help out with MHQ.

That was my mistake. Once he had FTP access, he still said he couldn't get the files on there. I should have known at this point he was lying.

I got grounded for a week right after this happened. When I was first ungrounded, I was going to check my e-mail, and then log on to SCU. But when I checked my mail I saw a subject line that would make any fanboy drop dead, "Suspension from Samus.co.uk's Forum Until Further Notice." If you had been a SCU member for as long as I had, you could imagine how I felt when I first read that. I immediately went to SCU to see what was going on. It turns out, Master_Metroid, who had changed his name to Auracalcos, had essentially deleted MP2D.co.uk and supposedly left a rather rude and trollish message to all it's viewers." He was banned for deleting the website, and I was banned for endagering SCU security by giving him the FTP username and password to the server.

Devastated and betrayed, I immediately banned Auracalcos from MHQ and desperately tryed to lie saying I didn't do it on SCU's IRC channel (which I was not banned from). After being calmed down and talked to by some friends of mine from SCU, I admitted to what I did and took full responsibility for it, so I remained suspended indefinitely from the forums. So with no forum to go to, I became more active on my own forum, MHQ, as well as working on what I could of MP2D and ME, and keeping in contact with those I knew at SCU through IRC. I found myself in a pretty low position. Besides my own forum growing ever so slowly, it felt like things couldn't get any worse.

They did. Just when I was getting used to my position in the Metroid Community, with me having regained a little of Andrew Mills (the founder of SCU) trust back and being re-appointed as webmaster of MP2D.co.uk, I felt like things were going good. However, managing a forum, a website, and chatting daily is no easy task when you have a busy life. Thus, because of spending too much time online, my grades in school suffered. Due to this, I was grounded from March 2005 through October 2005. During that time, I was fired from my webmaster position (understandably) and MHQ nearly died. I tried to sneak on as often as I could, but it wasn't enough. By the time I became ungrounded I was left with a recovering MHQ, almost no association with MP2D, and extremely limited links to SCU.

So here I am. Long story short, I misplaced my trust in someone who I thought could help me with my own ambitions, recovered, and then l slid down further. Moral of the story: Becareful who you trust, especially on the internet; don't sign up for so many things that you can't handle it all, and don't let your virtual life get in the way of your real life.

Don't think that because I'm not allowed there don't mean I still like the place; it's still one of the best communtiies out there.

I find everything I see intriguing. If you want I can put in a good word at MP2D. Only problem is everyone there except Sheegothhunter hates me. And maybe you should be a writer. Tragedies, Comedies, Childrens Books, its all open!...OMG! LOOK AT THAT ROCK! ITS SO INTRIGUING!

Don't worry, I've gained the trust of SCU back, even Mills, however he won't unban me because I have to live with the consequences of my action. I still ask him if he could once a year, but he still says the same thing...
Oh and BTW, I hate writing, but that story had to be told.

The original conflict has been resolved... But I won't take the time to explain to Mill's the truth behind the situation.

What a life story. I can't believe he would just stab you in the back like that. But then, thats where you learn from the moral and your mistakes. Learning from both can make you wiser in handling those kind of circumstances.

I just managed to read this. One word: Wow. I had no idea. *salutes MM1914* I praise you, man, for your endurance.

*snickers* Well, at least SCU got it right in their bee-hinds... You should feel lucky, MM1914.
